There's a chance it could. The silver metal wand might, if you were not careful to keep it from touching the bottom of the pan. The silver metal housing keeps the blades from touching bottom, but the housing is also metal and it might scratch if drug across the pan. The blender works well without placing it that far down, though. So if you were conscious and careful about keeping it from touching or dragging, your pans would be safe. The larger wand for mashing potatoes is plastic, as are its blades, so that one would be safer.
