Must have for car play and Apple home kit
The media could not be loaded. My primary reason for this purchase is its Apple HomeKit integration. (Story time) I have had other smart garage door openers with various levels of satisfaction. For example, one tied to an alarm system that required a subscription (lame) and was extremely slow to respond opening or closing, the other no subscription but the wireless sensor on the garage door that let the system know if the door was closed or open would often loose its connection to the control unit. The control unit itself would often loose connection to the app or need to be reset even though the WiFi signal was strong by the app standard. Beside the technical issues the second device worked pretty well when it did and it had the ability to use a third party app to connect it to the Apple HomeKit and that was awesome. Unfortunately they disabled the API connection and I really enjoyed the the HomeKit features to the point I never opened the app itself. This particular device is probably the simplest smart garage door opener I’ve seen. Simple meaning it connects to the same momentary switch ports that the wall mounted button uses, no sending a wireless signal. The door status sensor, also simple, using a rudimentary sensor with a magnet connected by a very long cable to the control unit to let the system know when the door is open or closed. That being said, the actual physical setup is a bit more involved because you need to connect and run wires but the app setup is much quicker and easier once you have created your account. In fact after the physical instal you scan the HomeKit QR code and it’s down hill from there, super quick and easy. Now I have CarPlay integration and the ability to ask Siri to open the garage door when I’m on the motorbike. Also, because this device operates as a momentary switch there is no delay or flashing lights when you push the button to close the door and there is no delay in opening or closing the door, it’s pretty responsive and I like that. You can set the device to sound an alarm when the door closes but no flashing lights.Pros:Simple device designWorks with Apple HomeKit plus Alexa and GoogleSoftware setup with HomeKit is simplePhysical connection to the sensor and garage unitCons:More expensive than the “leading brand”Physical install is a bit more involved but not difficult

Pleasantly Surprised in Function and Compatibility
I have been scouring for something that would just alert me via Apple HomeKit if the garage door was left open, or at least to be able to easily see that it was open via Apple HomeKit. The simple garage door opener from meross fit the bill. It was easy to install, program, and add to Apple HomeKit. The only thing that was of any concern, was that I had to obtain an "accessory" from meross separately after determining the defautl package would not work with my opener, The accessory was a universal garage door open that connects via hardwire to the meross device. It was free but it delayed my install until that arrived, which was only 3 days. All in all a bargain and reliable solution to my needs.

Not as simple as it seems
I bought this for $38 on Prime day. Great value for the price. As others have written, opening the app provides you with more detailed instructions than the paper ones included in the (very nice) packaging. What I did was opened the app in the kitchen, saw the detailed instructions, put the phone in my pocket and scooped up the box and went to the garage. Locking the phone disables the tutorial. back to the paper for me.Apparently there is a way to cross check the compatibility with your garage door opener (I have a craftsman) but the instructions were not clear (I thought they were asking for the make of the device itself) so I skipped this part.I won't go over the wiring portion, it was very simple and I had it wired in in about ten minutes. Super easy, even without the app.Where the easy ended and the hard part begins is the sensor. There is a magnetic sensor that you place on the door itself, and a matching sensor that is wired to the device. When they are close together the device knows the door is shut. The instructions said to place these within an inch of each other. It's actually just shy of a 1/4 inch. This took me almost an hour to find a place that would allow a quarter inch of movement without snagging the wire or finding a place where the magnet could sit. This was the hardest part about the whole process and I don't have any tips for you guys here. This part sucked. I had to hold the sensor close enough to each potential mounting area and constantly shut and open my door while figuring out how to perfectly space the sensors close enough to each other without touching when the door moved.Lastly I'll get to the app. The app is ok, but you have to set up an account. Ok. Tricky part came with integrating it with Alexa.Well, like many of us now a days I use a password manager. The password is long and complex and for whatever reason when I copied it into the Alexa app to log into Meross it would just sit there, log in button greyed out. Over and over again. Ended up emailing support because When I set up the Meross app it asked for an email and the Alexa integration asked for a log in and I thought they were two different things. Again, the problem was from pasting the password from my password manager. Ended up typing it in and it worked fine. The next problem came from the voice commands.I couldn't get the voice commands to work even though the apps were integrated. I could use Alexa to open and close the door but not the voice commands. Here the problem was that the name of the device in Meross was different than the one in Alexa. I was saying "Alexa, use Meross to open the garage door" and variations on that. What Alexa needed to hear was "unlock the smart garage door opener" which just rolls off the tongue. Once I got it renamed and I realized that the command is to "unlock the garage" (with a code you need to set up so a thief can't yell into your window) the whole thing works well.In conclusion, for $40 this thing is great. As with any new piece of tech there's learning curves and frustrations. You're integrating three things (the old garage door opener, the Meross system, and Alexa/Google) so there's going to be some pain in that. Once it's working it's a breeze. One thing I do worry about though is the integrity of the Meross system. I worry that the data is not protected well and I wonder how well a hacker could break into my home. Overall I do recommend this product.

So easy to install and gives you control of your door from your iphone
After spending 5 days writing C# code for an arduino a friend pointed me to this. Arduino went back in the box with completed (working) code and bought this. In Australia you are supposed to have an legally IR sensor on the door to stop it from activating if anything is blocking the door (child or animal etc). It would be great if this was sold with this as an option that is just one pair of wires that plugs into this unit (may be an option I missed). The app occasionally logs me out which stops it from sending alerts, I'm not sure if that's an Apple thing or if it's the app (I think it's when the app auto updates). Otherwise this is a solid unit and a great app .
