Let her look at it and told her it was different before I fed it to her (greys dont like change). What a difference
I was looking for a gluten free option for my 21 year old african grey who was disgnosed with giradia (a water borne illness). She was abused by my now ex pos boyfriend. Had to evacuate home until said POS moved out.Out of 10 birds, she was the one who got sick. Took her to my avian vet, ran bloodwork. Tested positive for high allergens and giradia, made the connection - I was hand feeding her katee exact baby formula before taking her to vet due to weight loss.Flagyl and Prozac were prescribed for infection and PTSD. still would chew her feathers off and act nervous.Started her on new formula tonight. Let her look at it and told her it was different before I fed it to her (greys dont like change). What a difference, she is napping on the couch, she didnt have a wheezing sound when I was hand feeding her.I think this is the cure to her plucking, chewing feathers.Thank you for an excellent product! Will reorder in a couple of days after tracking of progress.Read an article of gluten consumption in humans - after 15, 000 years, there are still people who cant digest gluten.Only two generations of domesticated birds have ingested gluten filled grains. It does not state GLUTEN FREE on package, I just know what to look for since I am also gluten sensitive. Will put my Kaytee formula in the trash if she continues to improve.

Perfect for beginners
I decided to be daring a take in a two week old cockatiel bird. Let me tell you I might as well of had another baby with having to feed the little guy every couple of hours around the clock. This formula was extreme easy to use. Simply heat up the water, mix in the formula (it mixes quickly and smoothly) and feed your new little bundle of joy. I love that it came with a little brochure explaining exactly what to do and I referred to it often. Peaches (our bird) has now graduated to seed but he had a healthy head start thanks to a great formula.

Good for finches
I am a big fan of Kaytee Exact for my parrots, but for some reason, it doesn't seem to be the food of choice for my softbills. Having just rescued two finch babies that were getting pitched, I was happy to have this on hand! The chicks took to it readily and are thriving.

NOT the proper nutrition needed- VERY Disappointed!
After doing more research, I found this formula DOES NOT have the necessary levels of protein and fat for growing, feathering chicks. I was extremely disappointed because I thought I was buying the best formula I could and didn't mind paying more for a better product. I had to hand feed 2 Bourke's Parakeet chicks that the mother abandoned and their growth was so much slower than it should have been. Instead of being able to leg band at 7-9 days, they weren't to size until day 12! They started feathering late, self-feeding late, flying late, yet I hand fed around the clock as I should have for weeks and am still supplement feeding at 6 weeks old twice a day. I can't help but think this formula held them back from growing at the proper rate. I have switched now to Roudybush formula 3 Bird Food, 2-Pound and they like the taste better as evidence of eating more of it. The Roudybush is also much easier to mix and you get more than double for the same price as the Lafeber's. I'll stick with Roudybush from now on!

Baby bird
Our young bird was being hand fed when we got him. This stuff is great and our bird took to it right away. He's a little difficult to wean off of it though

My Quaker parrot was sick and not eating so I bought this. She absolutely loves this! She eats some in the morning and at night before bed. I either feed it to her with a needle-free syringe or with a spoon. I'll keep this food as part of her regular diet, even after she is well. It keeps her full and energized!!

Unless you are raising a very small bird, you might well consider ordering 2 containers
Our baby bird ate this food with no hesitation once she learned how to eat from a syringe
