Gibraltar SC-GPHP-4B Port Hole Protector 4-Inch - Black Finish

Port ring looks great but this is what I recommend doing when installing. After reading many other reviews, I removed the outer ring white adhesive backing and used only the inner ring adhesive backing. It snaps in much easier plus you don’t see the outer ring white adhesive that will be exposed on the outer drum port ring. Especially if you have black or darker outer resonant bass drum which I do. Hope this helps other drummers out there.

The media could not be loaded.  Looks good. It did take a bit of muscle to get the port hole covers to snap into place, but once set, all good. I also recommend the bass drum head port hole cutter, which can be sized to cut a perfect 2inch to 10 inch hole into your bass drum. Mine is set to 4 inches.

Fits perfectly using a hole cutter set at 4”. Initially tough to snap together. Found this to work really well though: install the front piece, then line up the back hole and use your hole cutter turned on its side to push down, moving around the back hole. Once you get it close, push down further to get it to snap into place.

Snapped on well enough, but I had to use a black marker around the outside because you can see the white sticker sticking out like a sore thumb on the black on black head (not a biggie). I noticed it seemed kind of hard to tune around (but I'm no master drumsmith tuner). Took it to a master drumsmith tuner for high spots on the other side (unrelated), but I got him to tune the bass drum as part of the deal. He had a lot of trouble tuning around it, because he said it was vibrating at a different frequency or something. He was embarrassed because it wasn't perfect, and suggested I go with the aquarian style that didn't look as protective but still better than just a hole. I though it sounded okay, but when I replaced it with the flatter aquarian, it sounded instantly awesome. Rattle vibration crap was gone. I'd only suggest going with this style port hole protector if you really need more protection than quality of sound. This thing makes your bass drum sound like crap. I witnessed it first hand.

I needed to get a port hole cut into my resonant head but didn't want it to be poorly cut and I was not going to do the whole heat a tin can and melt it method haha. I got this four inch port hole protector to secure the hole i cut, and now I have such a nice, clean looking bass drum head. Now no sound guy is gonna have a problem with micing it when I play live. pretty easy to use and good quality too. i couldnt get the back piece to stick to the head but it clicked in place anyway so it didnt matter.

inutile per il suo scopo...molto meglio un adesivo, oppure niente sulla cassa, l'ho comperato solo per avere le misure precise di un foro da 4, perchè era in offerta e perchè ho fatto una mezza cavolata, spero che questa recensione possa esservi utile per non fare lo stesso mio errore, tra l'altro non regge, si stacca in continuazione e rimane appiccicato tutto l'adesivo sulla pelle. Arrivato in tempi brevi, di questa misura è adatto per il foro di una pelle di una cassa piccola. Io l' ho messo su una cassa da 16.
