Bad batch?
I love maxima line, but this has me considering changing brands. The roll I received may have been old stock? I'm not sure, but it was garbage. I couldn't get it to spool up without it twisting. I finally got it as good as possible, got to the river, and ended up losing most of the spool to breaks, knots and twists.

One of the WORST wastes of money ever spent for line!
The line is expensive compared to monofilament line and after only 6 or 7 casts from my ultra light spinning rod it knotted up and became entangled over every other cast! I spent more time cutting line and resetting my gear and tackle then I did fishing! HUGE waste of money!!! Get Stren Monofilament 2 lb test for half the price and 10 times the usage!

Excellent line....detractors are lazy or ill informed
Ok let's be honest here with all fishing lines there are strengths and weaknesses. Sure, Maxima has memory, but it's also super strong, has great stretch, ties solid knots without kinking or roughing line, and is nearly invisible in clear water. So if you are targeting spooky, big fish, in clear water and need high strength to diameter with low visibility nothing beats it.That said, if you're making tons of casts and catching high numbers of fish where you aren't concerned about losing one or two to break offs you can find a lower memory, less strength line that's easier to use. However, if you're targeting big fish for your target species and you're only hooking a few and neeeeeed to land the ones you hook go with Maxima Ultragreen. It won't let you down.Further, with operator dillegence checking your line at spool after each cast for loops etc... you can use Maxima successfully if you've got a newly spooled reel or if it has sat unused for a month or two. These are the high risk times for high memory. You have to be smart enough to anticipate that though and manage accordingly. Once broken in the line has no more memory than any other.Honestly, I use it on all my crappie/pan fish ultra lights for slip bobber fishing and trolling. When you hook a 14 incher you don't want it breaking off. Or the occasional bass, catfish, or striped bass. Finally, as leader material on my rods with braid for inshore salt and fresh water bass fishing you can't beat it. You can buy 110 yards of this line compared to 27 yards of quality fluorocarbon like Seaguar and I believe the Ultragreen out performs it for low visibility and strength at less than half the price. And for salmon and steelhead fishing on northern rivers it's the go to line for 90 percent of serious steelheaders up there. That's for a reason folks. ...It just plain works.
