I loved the first one I purchased so much that I ordered a second one to have as a backup! I have a 10 month old Aussie pup who's a pretty strong puller (improving every day), and I needed a leash that would be far kinder to hands than nylon, would provide a softer feel with some give, and that's priced at a point that I wouldn't be overly irritated if my little heathen chewed through it. This looked like it met my criteria. It arrived quickly and immediately exceeded my expectations. The leather is buttery soft and silky. It has a really nice weight. The snap is heavy-duty, and the handle design is nice and sturdy. Using this with my pup is a pleasure - the leather has a lovely elastic feel, so the nanosecond he gives to pressure on the lead (from pulling), he gets an instantaneous release. The leather is so soft that there's literally no risk of burning or chaffing if it's pulled through your hand, and since it's leather, it has a grippy feel that helps reduce hand fatigue. This is my go-to lead for training and walks and I never want to be without one! It's an incredible value, and with this level of craftsmanship, I expect it to last for years

Purchased this leash several years ago. Although we have many leashes, this one is our go to. Leather is strong but flexible. Handle is comfortable. Leash looks as good as it did when first purchased. Love the length. My only “issue” is the clip can be fussy when attaching to a larger D-ring on collars.

I just rescued a 5 month old puppy who loves to chew! I had a flexi leash which you can extend the leash. I was warned not to use this! I realized she was chewing the lead and would have been dangerous if she chewed through it nd got loose. She chews the leather and it much more durable hopefully getting us through the chewing phase. It’s thick enough so it holds up to a lot of chewing. It’s got a bit of stretch in it too. The length is perfect and it’s soft when holding the hand portion compared to nylon leads.

This is a soft, supple, strong leash of good quality leather. A single strip of leather is used for the entire leash, the rivets at each end are used just to hold the end tabs down. The braiding is created by making little cuts in the leather and feeding the leash through these cuts - not by braiding different pieces together. This is important to me because it means the rivets aren't necessary to the leash, they're just cosmetic. If a rivet breaks, the leash will still function just fine. The only way for this leash to fail is for the leather itself to tear (or be chewed apart), or for the clasp to break (according to the description Fayville offers a lifetime warranty on the clasp, which they describe as solid copper, but it is brass-colored). I am very happy with this purchase - ordered a Small for my puppy who will be 30lbs when full-grown and this leash will hopefully be with us for many years.

Supple leather leash. We’ve used it daily for a couple weeks now for our 20# dachshund. He’s pretty good on a leash with some light pulling; easily corrected with some quick jerks of the lead. He seems to respond better to the leather leash v. Nylon with the same collar. The leash has softened up quickly. It has a natural finish on one side that flakes a bit. It’s has slightly stretched. Super easy on the hands. Has a good weight to it. Smells like leather but not overpowering and doesn’t linger on my hands after. I gave it 4 stars as I think it’s great for our dog but may not be sturdy enough for bigger or stronger dogs. If your dog is a chewer, they might be particularly attracted to the braided sections. Our pup is a light chewer so it’s easy to get him off of it and if I’m being honest, it’s become his gentle cue to us to get going. Ha!

I’m definitely a fan of the leather lead, especially for bigger dogs. It allows a better grip for holding on and it has almost 0% chance of breaking. This one was a very good quality, especially for the price.

Excellent quality leash. Initially bought this as it’s what’s recommended to use at my puppy’s obedience class, but this is my go to leash for both dogs. It’s easy to attach a poop bag dispenser through the braided part in the handle and the clasp is very secure. It’s held up very well to the puppy putting it in her mouth. The stretching mentioned in other reviews is very slight and only noticeable when your dog really pulls hard on it. It has not appeared to permanently stretch at all. It’s very comfortable and lightweight for long walks and doesn’t hurt my hand at all like a rope leash does when my older Dane pulls. I like it so much I’m considering ordering a second one now that our puppy is almost old enough to go for walks.
