Favourite gin! And good value

This really is rather special and I have just ordered my second bottle, which is praise indeed as I do try to buy a different gin each time. This is not a flavoured gin (such as the rhubarb gins you can buy) but rather a spiced gin - it is still very clearly a gin, with all the complex flavours you expect, but with the balance shifted away from botanicals and towards spices. The spice is very present in both scent and taste, with the predominant flavours for me being pepper and aniseed, with a slight smokiness - personal experience will vary of course. The scent is wonderfully exotic and you can immediately imagine yourself in the spice markets of Dar-es-Salaam. I drink gin both neat and with tonic. This is a brilliant neat gin to sip, savour and then swallow. A warming drink of a winter's eve. With tonic, either go for fairly strong mix with Fevertree Mediterranean tonic over ice, or for a refreshing tall one use a standard tonic (Fevertree Naturally Light gets my vote), over lots of ice and a couple of torn basil leaves. Also worth a try, if you want the pure flavour of Opihr, but not the strength, is a splash of soda water. There are a lot of very ordinary gin's masquerading as premium gins these days. This isn't one of them. It is a delightful find that can often be bought for £18 or less for 70cl. Enjoy it.

A nice gin. Whilst I buy gin primarily for the taste, I acknowledge that Ophir is also well-presented by its' bottle & labelling. Available in most of the big supermarkets, but was a better price at the time of purchase here on Amazon & with free delivery.

This is my favourite gin. A nice fragrant underlying cardamom flavour. Goes well with a sprig of coriander , a slice or two of orange and Indian tonic. Not very good with flavoured tonics

Ottima qualità e fragranza di questo gin. Concordo nella classificazione medio/alta (più alta che media fascia secondo me da intenditore di Gin) nonostante il suo prezzo di fascia “economico”! Stra-consigliato sia da avere che da regalare per fare bella figura! Perfetta e veloce consegna con scatola di imballaggio robusta e qualitativa con Amazon prime!

Ich LIEBE diesen Gin. Ich hab schon einige probiert, auch sehr teure, aber dieser hier hat es mir nachhaltig angetan. Er ist so besonders und das für einen vernünftigen Preis. Wer einen Gin mit wirklich besonderen und total interessanten Noten sucht, ist hier fündig geworden.

Ich kann unumwunden zugeben, dass ich durchaus einen gewissen, ausgeprägten, dem guten Geschmack zugeneigten Gaumen besitze. Seit Jahren trinke ich Weine, seit geraumer Zeit jedoch widme ich mich meiner zweiten Leidenschaft, wenn es um gehobene Alkoholika geht: Dem Gin! Dieser hier hat mich mehr als positiv überrascht. In jedem guten Gin liegen tiefere Wahrheiten, genau wie in jedem guten Wein. Die Wahrheiten sind mitunter anders, aber in ihrem Kern nicht weniger schwer in ihrer Relevanz. Kurzum: Ich habe nach dem Genuss dieses Gins so gut wie seit Monaten nicht mehr geschlafen. Die Träume waren tief und real. Hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Zum Gin: absolut empfehlenswert! Schon der Geruch verspricht tiefe und breite Empfindungen. Dieser Gewürzcocktail, der dem Riecher in die Nase schlendert, hat es in sich...ein fein ausbalanciertes Spiel aus offensichtlichen Gerüchen und feinen, tieferliegenden Schichten, die der Geist erahnt, die Nase aber nicht direkt wahrnehmen kann. Der Geschmack. Rund! Einfach rund, dann explosiv im Geschmack, dann wird der Körper ruhig und der Geist kann wandern gehen. Ich habe mich körperlich erfrischt gefühlt, wie nach einer Massage. Lange Rede, der Sinn bleibt der gleiche: Phantastisch!
