Key Maths 5

Great help for Math strugglers
I bought this for my 8 year old after the happy completion of book 4. The print is old, big and clear, and - importantly for my little beauty-seeker- green. The exercises are relevant and well balanced between needed repetition and variety. I would only beg from the Editors to reconsider the order of the activities. Clearly a child who still isn't fluent in counting in 2s or 5s and has to still grasp 'jumping down the ladder' is never going to be able to work out the change in different value coins for purchases, which requires the abstract maths to equate price to coins, do adding and subtraction in one's head and then reconvert the quantities into coin values again. Mmm. I suggest the money activities to be placed further on in the book - or series, once the child's been able to practise all the skills involved in that. Same for some exercises that involve the mechanics of sharing before practising that at a basic level. The way I went round the problem was leaving those activities for later. Editors take note!

Super extra homework tool
Love these books and use them alongside the homework that my daughter is set which is maily practicing writing and arithmatic. So these books help to reinforce her learning.
