At first I was a bit wary of trying Methylated Folate as it can have negative side effects for some people, but I'm glad I did. My Folate levels were incredibly low. I was anemic in both B12 and Iron. I am compound heterozygous for the MTHFR gene and have several other mutations. This product has done wonders. I have used Jarrow in the past and liked their quality so I was happy to see that they carried this. I've been taking this every morning for months now and instead of my folate levels continuously being on my bloodwork, it's finally staying at the correct levels. I did stop using it for a while per my Doctors instructions and it dropped again, so I will continue this for the forseeable future.

This pill brought up my deficient folate level pretty fast. Measured in 1.5 months after starting the supplement, one pill once a day, the level was back to normal. I also appreciate the pill being natural and easily absorbed. I swallow the pill with a cup of water-no bad taste.

MTHFR genetic issues require me to take methylfolate daily. I have always felt Jarrow is a trusted brand and love that their prices are reasonable. It does seem to help me - I have been buying these for several years. Great product in my opinion.

People with MTHFR, EDS, POTS, or Mast Cell issues (MCAS) who are starting Methylfolate beware. If you are sensitive to methyl donors, even a "dusting" which is what I did can trigger symptoms. ​I took less than 1/4 of a capsule, a tiny amount, to experience severe unpleasant side effects. Here is what happened to me within 11 hours of taking that micro-dose. ​ -Sudden Irritability ("Folate Rage"): Within a few hours I felt an intense wave of agitation. It was more than just a bad mood. I felt like I literally wanted to rip out of my own skin. Everything that would typically bring me joy was now awful. Music, food, clothes, people. It was a chemical shift that could be felt and it was unbearable. Methyl groups hit the brain too fast, spiking neurotransmitters (Dopamine/Norepinephrine). -"Hot Knees" Burning Joints: Later than evening about 5 hours in my knees suddenly started thumping and throbbing, turning red and hot to the touch. This was a vascular reaction (vasodilation) triggered by the supplement. Methylfolate boosts Nitric Oxide. Which with EDS, causes vasodilation and blood to pool painfully in the joints. I couldn't find any relief and contributed to the restless night ahead. ​-Racing Thoughts & Overactive Mind: That night about 11 hours in my mind wouldn't shut off. It wasn't all bad. I felt a rush of good emotions I hadn't felt in a long time. But my mind was racing. When I tried to sleep it was flashing good and bad Imagery. My brain was simply firing too fast to settle down. When I finally fell asleep, I experienced multiple episodes of "demonic" sleep paralysis. Woke up feeling groggy and unrested. ​I’m not saying don't take this supplement. I’m just saying that if you have experienced any of these symptoms in the past, it is likely you are "Methyl-Sensitive" like me. The great thing is that these are capsules, so you can open them and test the tiniest amount first. They are tasteless and easy to use. I highly recommend doing that before swallowing a whole pill, just in case your body reacts like mine did. They are clearly effective, just not the right form for me.

I am giving this 5 stars because it is actually the right kind of Folate. I did a lot of research before deciding on a brand. While I have not had blood work done right before or after this to know it it is working, I am happy taking it and hoping it is doing great things for me. Due to a past history of multiple miscarriages and 2 hemorrhages I thought maybe this would help end that. The doctor has not retested my folate level since October 2015 which was 3 months before the last miscarriage that ended in hemorrhage. I will be getting a checkup here in a few months and will be asking to have my folate tested at that time to will know if it is bringing my levels up. I will do an update at that time. Update. I have now consistently taken this since April of 2016, and it is now August of 2021. Leading up to end of 2017, I had had multiple miscarriages, two hemorrhages, and had lost a total of seven babies. I found out that I have MTHFR gene mutation, which doesn't allow my body to absorb folic acid which is the fake form of methylfolate. So, years and years of taking prenatal vitamins, we're doing absolutely nothing for my body, and every time I would get pregnant, my body wasn't supplying adequate folate to the baby. Besides the heartbreak of losing multiple pregnancies, was the impact on my body, and mind. And I went through a period of depression. Not sure if I wanted to keep trying, or just give up. After getting the diagnosis of MTHFR gene mutation, and the fact that there might be something I could do about it, I decided to try again. I now have two more children and have had no more miscarriages. This stuff is a life changer. And I will be a lifelong user, also recommended it to everyone in my family, and my mother and sister take it.

Analyze my diet and found that it was desperately low in folate and this feels that so whatever it could fix I hope it's fixing. This is a large soft gel and if you can't take large soft gels and I mean large like half the size of your thumb don't get this but if you can or if you're willing to pierce it with a pin and squeeze it into something that you can't taste go ahead and do that. I think this is a very natural product any chemicals and products would bother me so this was fine. There is no red dye number whatever it's a natural color and I hope it's helping me. I will reorder again and again
