Talking As Fast As I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls, and Everything in Between

I watched Gilmore Girls a few years ago and really enjoyed it so when I came across this book I thought I'd give it a try. I wasn't disappointed! I thoroughly enjoyed it and found it to be really funny and fascinating! Lauren Graham is a terrific actress and she also done a great job writing this book. I like her wit and sense of humour which often came across as being very Lorelei Gilmore esque. I wound up binge reading it and finishing it within less than a week. It was that good!

Great read, couldn’t put book down. Felt like I was reading it like Loreli at times. Highly recommend if you’re a fan of Lauren Graham and especially Gilmore girls.

I first started watching Gilmore Girls earlier this year on Netflix, not having heard of it before, and I have to say it is a truly marvelous series. I was so disappointed when it finished. But took great delight in watching the Revival. So I was intrigued to find out what Lauren Graham ("Lorelai") had to say in her book and I have to say I was not disappointed. The way she writes is, in a way, the way she talks, so very funny from the beginning of her telling us how she started out, her ups and downs of trying to "make it". She regrets not keeping diaries of the first series which you can only imagine would be an hilarious insight but she did manage to backtrack by watching some of the episodes. But she did keep journals of the Revival and it shows how much she and the rest of the cast really loved making the whole series and how well everyone got on....and still keep in touch. Her special relationship with Alexis and Kelly is very evident; also that with Melissa McCarthy and the rest of the cast. Also her time on Parenthood (which I haven't seen yet). All in all it was a really, really excellent read and in fact, although I only had the books for a few weeks, I have read it twice. I would recommend to anyone. I finished the book in no time at all and it was that good I am reading it again.

This book is nice and quirky but i thought it would be more gilmore girls based..... No mention of lane and not a lot of amswers.

This book took me on an amazing adventure, partly a biography and a memoir of Lauren's adventure on Gilmore Girls and various other shows. I had never heard of Lauren Graham till recently. She is by far a gifted actor and writer and she is surrounded by people who believe in her. You will need tissues near the end of this book. Especially if you have combined reading this book with watching the last four episode of Gilmore Girls on Netflix. Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. Before Winter 2016 I had only heard good things about Gilmore Girls. I never watched it because I normally watch crime and science fiction. Netflix recommended it to me because I watched Brooklyn. I saw the first episode and within minutes I was hooked. The book and the series got me through grief of two family losses. I am so pleased to have met Lauren Graham through her amazing writing and acting. Now I start parenthood. Thank you. PS I read this book in one day while I travelled back from Ireland on New Years Eve. I could not put it down.

Bought this as a Christmas present for my friend, but because I didn't see her for two weeks I had the pleasure of skimming this before I had to wrap it up and hand it over. Honestly considering buying my own copy of this because it seems to be one of those books you can read over and over again. All of the reasons everyone loves Lauren Graham are reflected in her book. Her smart wit and bubbly personality radiates through the chapters, and is a great little pick me up of a book. Great for those times when you need something easy to read which will make you feel good about yourself. It's like she's brewed you a fresh pot of coffee and is sharing her life with you personally.

This is just a nice, short, easy read for fans of Gilmore Girls but its also unpretentious and really inspiring with good tips for wannabe writers. Would recommend.

It took me far too many years to get on the Gilmore Girls train, but once I finally did, boy did I become an instant fan for life. As such, I was extremely excited to read Lauren Graham’s new memoir, Talking as Fast as I can. There are so many (wonderful) things I want to say about her book that it’s difficult to pinpoint exactly where to begin. Graham’s prose has an effortless, familiar feel to it. Like the soft voice of a friend over a casual cup of coffee. It’s obvious she’s a writer, and an extremely talented one at that. One of the things I was worried about before I started reading was that it might only focus on her life as it related to Gilmore Girls. While that would have still been a thoroughly enjoyable read, fans (at least fans like me) read memoirs to learn about the real person and their real life. In learning about their lives, we feel as though we’ve left the world of fandom and entered the world of friendship. And Graham’s memoir delivers a perfect blend of personal and professional to us. Talking as Fast as I can contains two large chapters where Graham recaps the actual filming experience of Gilmore Girls. The first, positioned near the beginning of the book, covers the original series, and the last, positioned near the end of the book, covers the revival. The remainder of the book follows Graham throughout her life from childhood to present. We learn a little about her family, about her upbringing and education, and, of course, about how she became the actress we love today. She’s witty, inspirational, and utterly entertaining. But it’s more than just a simple sharing of random moments of her life. You can tell that each story, each chapter, each word has been chosen with care and caution. It’s neither too short nor too long; it is just perfect. As her agent had once told her after reviewing her first novel, there are some publishers who will buy and sell anything (whether it’s good or not) a celebrity writes just because they know it will sell. She refers to those kinds of books as “Monkey Doodles.” I can assure you this book is anything but a Monkey Doodle. This is a wonderful book. An eloquently written book. One every fan should read. I came away from the book an even bigger fan. I’ve actually just started binging Parenthood and oh my… what a fantastic show. And I plan on reading her debut work of fiction, Someday, Someday, Maybe, as well as pretty much everything else she writes. Lauren is a warm and engaging woman who hasn’t let her success go to her head. And I’m very excited to see where her career and talents take her next. If you’re a fan of Gilmore Girls or of Lauren herself, and even if you’re not, take a few hours a get to know this talented and wonderful human being. Anyone who's a fan of Lauren Graham and/or Gilmore Girls will enjoy this one. Good, easy read with some fun BTS stories.

It came fast and in perfect condition. I haven't read it yet but peak a bit... Love it has pictures so you don't need to just imagine. It is written as she talks, so seems to be easy and fun to read.
