An excellent product, does what it says and the price is a bargain.
I’ve bought two Slendertone ab belts in the past and was very happy with their performance, but saw this particular model and thought I’d give it a try. I’ve had a break from using these ab belts for a good three years relying on Bullworker and wheel exercisers instead, but decided on impulse to look at the belt devices again. This new product resembled a Slendertone in terms of its overall look, however the control unit is attached to the belt and is not incorporated into the design in the same way as a Slendertone, is this a problem? No, because it has a bigger and clearer display and it’s also easier to understand with much larger buttons, so I find it an improvement when compared to the Slendertone model, besides, there’s a small pocket to store the control unit on the belt itself if you so desire, however I prefer to lay on the bed for 30 minutes, so I just placed it next to me, it’s connecting wire is only several inches long. It comes with generic batteries, although I had a box full of the Energiser brand, so I popped in two of those instead (the AA size) as I’m familiar with how long they tend to last, however I’ll likely resort to rechargeable batteries at some point. It was nice to see there’s none of those expensive sticky pads required, which aren’t cheap to keep replenishing, plus, they have a habit of sticking to the skin when you remove the belt. The unit incorporates four pads, strategically placed to target the side and front muscles, plus a tube of water based gel which therefore doesn’t stain. A small amount of gel, applied to each pad in turn, is all that’s required, after which you simply wrap the device around the waist. The Velcro fastener incidentally is very strong. All I then did was to lay down on the bed for half an hour, set the type of pulse I preferred, there are several to choose from, I tried 2 for approximately 30 seconds but quickly decided on one which suited me and then I proceeded to alter the intensity, initially up to 30 (the highest is 99) but then increased this over several minutes to 60. In terms of potential discomfort, this will vary from person to person, so totally ignore my personal settings mentioned above and obviously adjust to suit your own personal needs. I did experience soreness on the left side when I first used it, possibly because I had a hernia mesh repair in that area in August 2022, so with the left button I decreased the intensity for 5 minutes which curtailed that issue, but after 15 minutes I managed to equal the two sides again without experiencing any identical discomfort. Because of the hernia, nearly two years ago, I won’t increase the intensity to its maximum, even if I could cope with it, but it isn’t necessary. I did seek my doctor’s advice before restarting this type of exercise and he naturally suggested not doing anything to excess, which is why I had the hernia issue in the first place, but he did say that it was liable to place less harmful strain on the area when compared to other forms of abdominal exercisers, especially if I planned on laying down on a bed when using the device. I left the session length at 30 minutes, I could have shortened this, or stopped it at anytime I wanted with a simple push of a button, but because I’ve used this type of belt for a few years previously I decided to try it for a full 30 minutes, which frankly, lying on the bed, going through Tik Tok reels and my Facebook feed, it seemed to fly past. The overall effect? The contractions were certainly visible and were clearly felt, I experienced no soreness afterwards, but having used these devices before, and incorporated such exercises in my normal daily routine, that perhaps wasn’t too surprising, my waist area felt more taut, especially internally following completion. I appreciate there are no pads to buy, but there is the gel to replenish, however the sticky pads seem to wary from person to person in terms of how long they last, depending on the intensity of each workout and how often the unit is used, with the gel however you can clearly see when it’s time to reorder, so for me, if I’m going to replace anything, the gel is the better and cheaper option. I paid £39.99 for this product and bearing in mind the cost of certain items which look similar, I consider this device to offer superb value for money. I’d certainly recommend it if you’re in the market for a reasonably priced abs trainer that does what it says on the tin so to speak, or perhaps you’re merely looking for a change from an existing model.

No extras to buy makes it very cost effective
Never used an abdominal trainer before so didn't know what to expect, it can feel odd initially but shouldn't ever be painful. Do read the manual & be sensible about length of time used & intensity of settings. Only use on your abdomen & don't wear too high on the chest - this isn't for pectoral muscles etc. The actual belt is well-made, doesn't weigh much (600g) and is easy to adjust for comfort & fit with its velcro fastening. I was a 46 inch waist but it can fit larger. The belt is made of a soft material so you can move it up/down & re-position whilst wearing. I usually sit & watch TV, or do some ironing! The attached controller is good with 5 separate 'warm-up' & 5 separate "exercise" programmes. The initial 5 programmes are gentler & help prepare the muscles for the 5 more intense ones. I like the fact that you can use any combination of these & vary them with each session to ensure a balanced toning of the muscles. There's a countdown timer which stops a programme automatically after a maximum 30 minutes (adjustable to less time if you prefer). There is a mesh pouch on the belt to carry the controller, which is a good idea. The 4 conductive pads inside the belt are properly attached & only require a small amount of conductive gel to work. You get 100ml included which will last weeks & supplies aren't expensive. Some people use water instead - personally, I stick to the gel as it doesn't dry-out & reduces the risk of possible skin burning. The gel doesn't stain & can be removed from the pads using tissue; it simply dries on my skin without any issues. Not having to buy replacement pads (as with some other belts) will save a lot of money, one of the reasons I bought the ABFLEX. You can set the 2 outer pads to a higher or lower intensity, & the same for the 2 inner pads. This is an excellent feature: I find my outer, abdominal muscles might need a lower setting than my middle, for comfort. After 2 weeks daily use (30 minutes - 1 warm-up programme, then 30 minutes - 1 exercise programme) I have lost 3 inches from my waist measurement. Sometimes, I do 2 of these sessions a day (morning/evening). I am also on a reduced calorie diet - the ABFLEX isn't a weight-loss device, but it tightens the abdominal muscles as you lose fat, which really helps overall. Key-thing is to BE SENSIBLE: begin at lower intensities/time & build-up over 6 weeks. Vary the programmes to balance the muscle toning (I use a different 30 min 'warm-up' & 30 min 'work-out' programme, each session). Setting the intensity too high (or too soon) will just lead to discomfort & soreness, not quicker results.

The product was a very light belt and gives little tickle to almost nothing. Very disappointed 🙁

I was actually blown away by how much this belt surpassed my expectations based on some of these negative reviews. I think they are from people who are unfamiliar with using an EMS and / or out of shape. If you are neither of these I can strongly recommend this product to supplement your regular work out routine. If you’re a guy and aren’t feeling “it” a good tip is to shave or trim the body hair in the areas under the belt. As for max waist size for fit - I’d say probably 38 to be comfortable but for that and larger you should really limit your expectations on what this belt can do for you. Try out keto.
