Adding Bluetooth to a car is so easy with this!
I love this device. Just love it. Every morning when I get in my car to drive to work, I just start listening to pandora or spotify or a playlist or whatever I want on my phone. If I'm driving somewhere, the GPS on my phone broadcasts to my stereo along with the music. I can skip songs or answer phone calls from the steering wheel controls that came in my car. It's just so convenient and safer than some other options. Even better than that, if a friend wants to share a song with me, I just hand them the headphone jack and play that across my speakers too! I was able to install this into my car by myself in about half the time it took me to help a friend install a Bluetooth head unit in their car. Pairing with any bluetooth device is very simple and as an added safety measure can only be done in the first few seconds after the car starts. That way it prevents you from trying to swap out pairing while driving. The mic has a long enough cord you can run it all the way from the console, up the A frame to the rear view mirror and has great quality. The only thing I'd like added is a simple way to start the voice control of my phone while listening to music. That way I could send a message to my wife telling her I'm on my way home without pulling out my phone.

It has worked great and I have had it for over 3 years ...
Check out the other review on GROM Car kit:Let me preface this by saying that I have another one of these units in my other car. It has worked great and I have had it for over 3 years now.I used to have another unit from a different company that was “FM based” and it was the worst product that I ever had used. After it broke I decided to get this from GROM. WOW what a difference!I have the set that has the USB, Hands-free Bluetooth connection.Let me review each one independently:USB: works great. Has recognized practically all the devices that I have plugged in.Hands-Free Bluetooth: AWESOME feature! Works flawlessly. I use this more than anything else now, because it is so convenient and I put all my songs/mp3s into my phone and play seamlessly though the radio.Installation: It is a breeze. As long as you can take the face-plate of your radio off, the screws that hold the radio are easy to remove as well. Then, it is just a matter of connecting the quick connects- which only connect in one direction – so no way to mess up. Voila- you are done! If you have problems, you can watch various Youtube videos regarding the simple installation. Setting up the GROM car kit is easy as well. Once again follow the instructions which are very thorough in the instruction manual.I will definitely buy another one in the future- if the need arises. This is an honest and un-biased review and I was not paid for this review. I understand how important these reviews are in making a decision to purchase this item, therefore I have done my best to provide an accurate representation of this item.Addendum:My phone (galaxy s4) has no problems connecting or detecting the GROM car kit. I have 2 car kits in 2 different cars and it will switch easily from one to the other without any difficulty or any noticeable hiccups.

It ranges from "okay - good"
The bluetooth dongle is expensive for what it is. As far as connecting my phone, I would say 80% of the time i get into my car, my iphone 6 automatically connects, the other 20% i just have to select the device from the bluetooth list in my phone. When making a phone call, I have been told that I sound "quiet" despite talking quite loud with the mic only about 1.5 feet away. There is no easy way to increase this volume that I have figured out so far. As far as streaming audio, its not the clearest thing you've ever heard, but considering its in a 2004 car I would put some of the blame on the sound system in the car. I have however found that if I want to get very good sound at a loud volume quality the aux cord is a better option. The best feature is that this all works with my steering wheel controls on my 2004 acura tl. I can answer phone calls, hang up, and change the song with the steering wheel.

Bluetooth Audio In My Vintage Toyota -- That's Pretty Cool!
Absolutely loving having my vintage 1999 Camry equipped with Bluetooth audio! The cassette adapter thing was getting tiresome, and the audio from the cassette adapter was noisy with the cassette audio hiss and the rhythmic "ticking" of the cassette adapter mechanism. Now my car audio is modern, crisp, clean and free of cables. I can even do some basic iPhone controls, like skipping tracks, using the controls on the car stereo which keeps my eyes and hands off the phone and on the road.I had already purchased the GROM-IPD3 audio adapter that fit my Toyota Camry model and was enjoying the direct wired auxiliary connection with my iPhone to my car audio system. This GROM BTD In-Car Bluetooth Extension adds the Bluetooth capability and makes it so much nicer. My only complaint is that the GROM Bluetooth adapter unit does not detect whether you have the GROM Bluetooth microphone installed and routes the phone microphone through the GROM unit either way when paired. I just wanted the GROM unit for playing music and didn't want a full "hands-free" phone setup in my car so I didn't install the GROM microphone. However, the GROM unit doesn't detect this condition and still re-directs my iPhone microphone to the GROM unit whenever they are paired. Since there is no microphone installed, this means I can't or answer calls or use SIRI without having to first specially switch the iPhone Bluetooth temporarily away from the GROM unit and back to "iPhone" mode for the audio input. Then I have to switch audio input back to the GROM Bluetooth to keep listening to music. I find myself fumbling to make this switch while driving sometimes when a call comes in or I want to use SIRI record a quick reminder, which makes my my driving somewhat distracted at times.Overall, I'm thrilled to have Bluetooth audio capability and sound quality with my vintage car stereo and highly recommend taking a look at the GROM audio kits that fit your make, model and year.
