Revell 05408 H.M.S. Victory 1:225 Scale Unbuilt/Unpainted Plastic Model Kit

Good moulding a few flashes but easily removed,good instruction booklet with easy to follow diagrams.

Very good moulding giving a detailed model. Fairly easy to construct. Not really for children. It's a little too complex for most younger children. You will need to buy some plastic glue as well and paints to finish it off. Gluing the shields on the bulwarks is fiddly so you need to take time to get this right. Its best to paint or affix shield transfers before attaching them to the ship. Then just touch up the bits left unpainted so that you can glue them on. The ship is a complete ship, so if you want a waterline model you will need to carve away the part of the hull that would be below the water level. The scale works well with 28mm figures.

I got this to build for a school project with my daughter, I last built a model like this over 45 years ago and then it was always Airfix models I built, from what my foggy head remembers the Airfix instructions were so much clearer and concise , the instructions on this models were pretty poor to say the least, Still with a bit of common sense it all came together and I must say we both had fun building it, her small hands came in very use full on some parts that my sausage fingers could not do . the kit has great detail ,the rigging is a bit of a pain it is very fiddly, and the water slide stickers for the shields do not stick fully because of the raised boss on the shields , we only saw this issue when trying to stick them in place and it was too late by then , if we had read other peoples reviews we would have seen that to fit them properly you need to cut a hole in the centre of every transfer so it fits around the shield boss and not on top of it ,. I would say the kit is worth the price and the WOW reaction she got from he teacher when she took it into school more than made up for the little niggles on the kit,...don't forget to buy your glue and paint people as this kit does not contain any.

Really nice detailed model, one that i really enjoyed doing. Some of the detail on the ships hull can be tricky to paint due to it`s size but i just about managed with a modelling lens. Did not bother attaching the sails as i think the model looks nicer without them, plastic sails always look cheap so i may add fabric ones at a later stage. My only gripe is the quality of the injection moulding, i know with plastic kits it`s unavoidable but this one was particularly poor. Virtually every part had to be trimmed and some of the pieces are so small it`s almost impossible to remove them without damaging or snapping them. Modeller beware, may sound obvious but a really sharp knife and strong magnifier are needed if you want to do it justice, not the easiest kit to do but worth the effort, just a shame about the moulding.

A bit disappointed. It has to be from a very old mould. Excessive amount of flash and “bubbles “ . Is going together fairly well but needs a lot of sanding in places with a lot of fine detail missing

This is the second Revell Viking ship I've built. This one is for a friend with a taste for history. It is a model of the Gokstad ship, and it's a delight to build. The moulding is fine; even the hinged covers for the oar-ports have been moulded. There are 64 shields included, which is how the Gokstad ship was found in the burial mound, but no-one knows if that's how it sailed, or if that's how it was dressed for the funeral. Sensibly, the kit gives you the option of just fitting 32 shields to the gunwales, which matches the number of oars, looks better, and frankly is easier. The decals for the shields only fit if you cut out a little hole in each one to clear the shield boss.

Not what I expected, my first ever bad review for amazon. Heading stated it was a model that required glue (even says it comes with glue) but item is actually a model that requires clicking together.... box says easy snap and click design it actually means holes on the cheap bits of plastic are smaller than required so holds together buy brutally forcing weak bits of plastic into holes it does not fit into. Also once together parts do not match leaving a cheap looking fit on edges. Overall for the price I am left with a rubbish looking model that is very flimsy. Also as the model does not come with instructions my guess is you are supposed to follow the numbers, wich would be good if it didnt have numbers missing and often required me to retake parts off to get later numbers underneath. Lastly it didnt even come with flags, what good is a pirate ship without a flag! I would expect alot better quality and wouldnt waist money on this!.... il stuck with my usual airfix brand where the quality and overall design is alot smoother. ....

Interessantes Modell, schon zum zusammen bauen und auch bemalen, Preis war okay.

Cada una de las piezas están detalladas y armarlo es un buen pasatiempo. Nótese que es frágil pero es ideal para decoraciones.

Maalesef ürün çok kalitesiz ve parçalar birbirine geçmiyor. Bir tane parçada rahatça montaj yapamadım. Parçalar geçmiyor biraz zorlayınca da kırılıyor.
