TLDR: this item put me in danger, broke 2 expensive forks, cost me a bunch of money and wasted a whole weekend. Be wary of this front hub conversion kit! Very unhappy! First off I was really excited for this ebike kit. I commute on my bike 10 miles daily, was looking forward to being able to cruise it when I didn't want the workout. I followed the instructions which are horrible, and installed the kit on my Rockshox Jett fork. It immediately blew out the dropout when I went to try it out in front of my house. I thought well that really stinks, but maybe there was a flaw in it…checked online about it and saw that people were recommending a torque arm added to it. I purchased a torque arm set and grabbed another Manitou Black fork from a friend and installed it again with torque arms. Went to take it for a test ride, and once again the dropouts blew out and broke the torque arm clamps. Threw me over the handlebars on a busy road! Had to lug a 70LB bike ⅛ mile home, still sore… Be careful with this product …. It looks like i should be able to return it and get a refund. But im still stuck with a non refundable $200 battery…and a loss of 2 forks and a wasted weekend. Very unhappy.

Overall this product is amazing and performs exactly as advertised. I would recommend to buy a larger waterproof bag in advance for your electronics since the bag that it comes in is tiny. The only challenging portions of the installation were that the flanged nuts to hook the wheel into the fork were too large for my fork so I had to expand my fork's hole and Dremel down the flanged nuts. The only other thing was soldering the power connections to the battery but that just depends on what battery you buy. Overall 10/10 would recommend again. Edit: Now have ridden around 550+ miles. A few things to take into mind: - SPOKES! The spokes that come with the wheel are awfully tensioned so you will need to adjust the spoke nipples (that's what they're called) in order to keep your wheel from falling apart. I would recommend going to a bike shop to get them tensioned correctly or else your wheel can run crooked. I plan on getting them re-tensioned every few hundred miles. - 1000% make sure you buy a torque arm (sold separately) and make SURE that you install it correctly to keep your fork from being permanently damaged. - A hundred miles in or so a rattling sound began coming from the inside of the motor casing, I was able to safely ignore it and it hasn't caused any damage so far. I had seen another review/question about this issue so I was ready to expect it. - Brakes. I would highly recommend putting this motor on a bike with disc brakes as pad brakes don't super cut it when you're going that fast. But if you DO have to run pad brakes like I do, I would definitely set your pads so that they're just barely off the rim of your wheels and it takes very little pressure on the brakes to stop. I would still consider this product 5/5 considering its price. Planning on giving the bike to my girlfriend in a few months when I buy a proper e-bike.

This kit really needs a fuse. The instructions say to not plug in the battery directly. Since my battery did not come with a switch, and there is none with the kit, I tried to plug in my battery which did come with the same connector, and got a large spark, so I backed off. Later I installed a 20a/120v switch inline on the red wire, and when I flicked it on, nothing. Power is going in, nothing coming out, no LCD display. Could not find another controller with the same wires or connectors, even though I googled the part #. These are different for every unit. With 2 nine pin connectors in my system, trying to adapt some other components would be impossible. So I may never be able to actually use this kit. Too bad, because the quality is top-notch. UPDATE: I was able to get the LCD & PAS to work, but not the twist throttle. Still don't know if it is a controller issue. Company never got back to me. I ordered another throttle from Ebikeling, but the connector is different. MY ADVICE IS TO NOT BUY THIS KIT. These things are complicated and you really need good tech support and a website such as Ebikeling has. If you are lucky, you might get a good one, but how long will it last? Chinese Q.C. is notoriously spotty. So pay 2X what these are going for and save yourself a lot of aggravation.

This is a good kit but by no means should you buy this because of the disk brakes. The main reason I bought this particular kit was because of the included disk brakes. If you ride 30mph you need good brakes. However the included brake caliper is a cheese grade caliper and WILL NOT WORK properly. The brake caliper included is not paired with the correct brake levers. The levers are short pull, designed for old style cantilever brakes. The caliper is clearly long throw and requires a different lever meant for v-brakes or long throw disk brakes. This means you will have to adjust the brake pads to be extremely close to the disk, meaning they WILL rub and braking performance will be poor. My 30 year old cantilever brakes stopped better. The brake pads also wear EXTREMELY fast and the brakes will need adjustment after just a few rides. This means pulling off the caliper and adjusting the pads with a tool, you cannot adjust these brakes while they are on the bike. Most mechanical brake calipers have pad adjustment knobs on both sides that you can turn by hand. This only has one adjustment and you can't reach it with a tool while the caliper is on the bike. In the end I bought a higher end disk brake meant for the short pull levers included and threw out the old one. You can also use your old levers if they are long pull, but I highly discourage you from doing that because you will lose the brake shutoff switch in the lever. The torque washers provided in the kit that should prevent the wheel from destroying your fork will most likely not fit and you will need to source proper replacements. The connectors used on the controller's battery leads are not great and you should replace them. I would give 3.5 stars. To the seller: if you included the correct short pull caliper meant for the levers you provide this would be a 5 star product.

Really good kit I have 1900 miles on my bike. You can change it to where it will register miles instead of kilometers on the display very useful. I am running a 15 amp hour battery. I would recommend something higher ah battery The only thing that I wish I could’ve thought about before was getting the rear wheel drive kit instead of the front wheel drive you don’t really get that much as Power with the front wheel drive I even put the wheel on the back and it goes faster. I have managed to get this bike up to 30 mph I weigh 180 pounds it gets up and goes fast definitely worth it for the price. I would recommend building this kit instead of going out and spending $1500 on a built bike that doesn’t even have that much power. Thank you for reading my review.
