Rinsing well solves smell issue, perfect for my scalp psoriasis
I bought this as common shampoo makes my scalp itch and flake due to scalp psoriasis. It works perfectly for what it is for and is the only shampoo I have tried that does not itch and actually helps. Yes, it does have a strong smell and on my first use this did bother me but after following the instructions and rinsing it very well I have found it is no longer an issue to have the smell linger in my hair.

Effective for my scalp psoriasis
I suffer from scalp psoriasis and have managed it well before with the leading tar shampoo brand, however the price was the same as this product but for 150ml Vs this 500ml, it was a no brainer in terms of value for money. The shampoo obviously does have a strong tar smell to it. The closest smell I can describe this to is the smell of fire/smoke. The smell isn't unbearable but you need to be prepared that it's not a typical fruity shampoo smell. The product does lather up but not as much as mainstream shampoo. That said it does leave my hair (very short) nice and clean and doesn't leave it feeling to dry as long as it's rinsed off well. (Leave it in your hair/scalp 5 minutes before rinsing). For men I would recommend a good conditioner after use or some moisturiser if your hair is shaved like mine. It has certainly helped with my scalp psoriasis and have reduced the dryness and redness of the troublesome areas. Obviously the results and effectiveness will vary from user to user depending on your desired result but for a modest price for a large bottle, I would happily recommend that you try it.

It works fine for Seborrheic dermatitis!
Like many with Seborrheic dermatitis I was shocked and taken by surprise at the decision by Neutrogena to stop making / selling our specialist T-Gel. The mission to find a good quality and affordable tar shampoo replacement lead me to this product. Naturally after nearly two decades using the same shampoo to keep the dreaded itching etc at bay there was a major apprehension at using something else. But it has all worked out ok... Because (drum roll) this works just fine (for me at least). So cutting to the important things: Pros: - It works just about as well as T-Gel, with no itching or scalp dry skin that I can notice. - It doesn't smell anything like as bad as some people are saying (although the ladies may not be as keen on the smell as men). Cons: - It does smell a reasonable bit of bonfire/burning wood, but it's really not terrible. Perhaps 40% pine and 60% bonfire. But it is NOT foul smelling, and I am becoming quite ok with it. - It doesn't lather up as well as T-Gel, so I think that even the large 500ml bottle won't last as long as a 250ml T-Gel bottle. It's a bit thinner and runnier compared to T-Gel. So get an Amazon subscription up and running to save yourself some money.

Tar shampoo
Good quality shampoo for dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis, decent amount for the price, made with natural ingredients. I bought it for my husband and it seems to work well! His hair is shiny, soft and not greasy, without flakes. One drawback though is the smell of barbecue sauce, but it isn’t last long, you can smell it just during showers.

Quite strong smelling when using and on dry hair
I bought this as a polytar alternative. It soothes my scalp but is very strong smelling of pine. I can smell pine on my hair after it’s dry too, not overpowering but I’m aware of it. Will go back to polytar when I’ve finished this bottle.

Good shampoo
Just wanted to say that this is a good product and does help with underlying dandruff. I use this as maintenance for my hair instead of treatment (Nizoral) and works well. The Coal Tar smell is not as strong or potent as described, to be honest I actually like the fresh pine smell. I use this 3-4 times a week and so far no one has noticed any strong smell from this shampoo. Will be buying more. Thank you.

A very good reasonably priced shampoo.
I occasionally get an itchy scalp, and this shampoo does seem to relieve the symptoms. Have used Polytar, and other coal tar based alternatives, in the past. But these can be relatively expensive, in comparison to this brand.... A minor complaint for some, might be the noticeable, immediate aftersmell. But this is very transient and dissipates very quickly... Overall, a very good product and at a reasonable price....especially if bought in the larger size bottle.....

Works well
I have Sebhorric dermatitis and since using this shampoo my scalp doesn’t itch and all the dry patches on the hair line are gone . My hair also looks clean, healthy and thicker . I’m very impressed and will buy it again! The smell isn’t too bad

I really like the shampoo but delivery time is long. I wish they would stock with Amazon FBA so I could get quicker access.

Da muss man schon öfter waschen.

Smells so bad like old moldy cheese

Es cierto que el olor es peculiar (como a madera quemada), pero no me resulta desagradable, solo raro. Me calma bastante el picor del eccema y tiene una buena relación calidad-precio (más cantidad por menos precio que los champús de farmacia).
