Needs a good rinse before it goes in the tank otherwise you will end up with blocked filters but Great substrate for plant growth.

Fantastic stuff. No need to wash through as it eventually clears and gives a more natural look to the water.. but if you want the pristine water look then this washes through in secondsI use this as a layer under the sand

Working on a larger project and didnt wanna spend a fortune on fluval stuff again which costs more for less.Its a good soil mixed with clay and chipped. You cant use it as is, plants refuse to stay in it due to how loose it is and needs a sand top (i used some lava rocks) otherwise they will just lift and float out eventually if your using rooters.It is a dirty soil and needs a good rinse but overall its encouraged new growth in plants within a week or so of planting so it should serve well.Really have to emphasize digging through it once laid out and water is added because of the nature of it, you will get bubbles trapped inside and long term can cause problems with your fish.

The bag was much bigger than I’d expected so really good value compared to other types of substrate. It is quite dusty so needs a good rinse before use, but otherwise really easy to use and looks nice in my tank. A few pieces have decided to float to the top but they’re too big to get stuck in the filter and easy to pick out. I would buy this again.

A really good item that really does help with live plants, I placed this under my gravel and the plants have flourished. Well pleased.
