I've tried lots of different red flashlights for use when I stargaze. Many are bright enough for seeing an eyepiece or chart, but not bright enough to prevent me from stumbling over something as I walk around. That is what this flashlight is meant for. And you can use the zoom feature as a kind-of brightness control. When the beam is fanned out wide, it is dim and when it is focused narrow, it is very bright. Some would say too bright to conserve night vision, so just don't look into it! Great quality and great red light!

I purchased this red light flashlight to assist me at night while at bus stops. It is a perfect size for my waist bag and the red light is bright and vibrant. Perfect price. I would definitely recommend for your lighting need.

Really good quality. Bright without ruining night vision

I used this light this morning on my way to my tree stand, for a morning deer hunt with my bow.I used just one AA battery and it worked grate. It is small but lights my way and doesn't spook the deer.

Description says it's powered by 3 AAA batteries. Got the unit, looked in the well, 3AAA are not gonna fit into that tiny hole. Maybe a couple of 123's or 132's, but not AAA. No instructions provided. Wanna roll that dice?

The flashlight is great for seeing in the dark while walking to my hunting blind. The reason for lower rating is the pocket clip broke first time I tried to clip to my hunting clothing. Now have to fish through all the pockets to find it instead of just clipping to my front pocket. Sort of why I ordered it to begin with. The pocket clip.
