Giselle: Royal Ballet [DVD] [2014] [NTSC]

I love Giselle and have several different productions. I bought this principally to see Natalia Osipova performing with the Royal Ballet. This production is very good, I must say; but when Osipova dances it is simply sublime. She brings such grace and emotion to her dancing and a genuine gasp at the sheer spectacle. It may be my imagination, but even the orchestra seems to respond. Wonderful.I often wonder why the Royal Ballet are so reluctant to list more of the cast; they work so hard.Loved the offstage extra on the dvd; only wish there had been more. Worth a dvd on its own.

Astonishing performances from all .Osipova and Carlos amazing.Corps de ballet deserve special mention as well.Act 1 is charming and so colorful.I found myself "afraid" to take a breath during Act 2 in case I would miss anything.Don't hesitate even if you already posess other fine performances of Giselle (as I do myself)

If you like the score Khachaturian then this is a very good buy. The dancing is tremendous and the production impressive. Just wish it was on Blu-Ray so on a large screen TV it would be clearer. A good buy

Thoroughly enjoyed the live streaming of this performance at the cinema, so I couldn't wait to purchase a copy to re-visit this exciting performance. I have seen Svetlana Zakharova, Diana Vishneva and Natalia Osipova all dance 'Giselle' and yet they all make the role totally their own; each interpretation is completely different. N.O. moves so fast and I don't think I have ever seen a ballerina take the Act 1 solo manege at such a speed. She also jumps with such power, that she is in the air twice as long as she is on the ground. Emotionally her little face mirrors every feeling, which is heart wrenching at times. I love Carlos Acosta, he is a wonderful artist and partner and this DVD should be in every balletomane's collection.

Natalia Osipova is probably the greatest Giselle of all time, and as a dance critic I have seen most of the best in the last fifty years. This is a mind-blowing performance, absolutely stunning - particularly Act 2.

Came very quickly but I hadn't noticed it was an NTSC version so I could not see it on my DVD. Had to send back unfortunately but had no problems at all.
