Electro Harmonix Big Muff Pi Pedal for Electric Guitar Silver

This is old-school technology - basically just a big box full of transistors and diodes - but it works gloriously. You can play it through the clean channel on an amp and it will give you a really great distorted sound you could gig with.The sound of the Big Muff is now mostly associated with grunge-era bands like Mudhoney and the Smashing Pumpkins and eighties alt rock, like Dinosaur Jr. and Sonic Youth. That thick, almost gloopy, sound. Remember, though, that Hendrix and Pink Floyd used one of these too. If you resist the urge to turn everything up to ten, there's a real variety of tones, suitable for classic rock as well as even just giving your rhythm sound a bit of boost. Supposedly the designer was looking for 'sweet violin-like sound', and it really can do that.Controls are very simple: three dials for volume, tone, and sustain. With only three inputs, it's pretty easy to remember certain combinations, and the pedal and controls are chunky enough to be quickly adapted.Finally, it's a very solid build. You feel like this will last you a lifetime, even if you kick it around. One point: don't leave the cable-jack plugged in when you're not playing. It will run down the battery.

I've known about the Big Muff just about forever, but for reasons I cannot explain, I've never got round to getting one.Big mistake.A fuzz pedal and sustainer is the usual description for the Big Muff, but this doesn't quite do it justice. The tonal palette on offer is enormous from a very mild warm rhythm crunch to a monster distortion that did my amp no good at all but sounded fantastic. Control comes in the form of three chunky knobs, delicate tweaking of which provides almost endless sonic combinations. All of which comes housed in a (large) bombproof metal casing.Great pedal, very, very cheap for what you're getting. If you play classic rock, blues, indie or anything that comes with heart and soul attached, you need one of these.

Big Muff. If you want distortion, this distortion pedal will probably do the job. If you prefer a clean sound, distortion is probably not for you as it makes the sound all distorted. If this sounds like you, don’t buy a distortion pedal. I like it. You might like it too.

Big dirty and fuzzy - if you are looking for a fuzz pedal, then quite simply this is the best one - period.From dark muffled to high and fizzy, the amount of different usable sounds from this behemoth is astonishingly impressive.Cranking the volume knob causes everything to start to fall to bits - the signal begins to degrade and your neighbours and local wildlife will run to the hills - meanwhile you will feel like a guitar god.Turn everything down a bit, and the sound cleans up nicely but holds an amazing warm tone with fuzzy dirt on the end when you get a little to excited.Don’t hesitate - buy one today!!!

It's a very popular and pretty versatile muff pedal, which you can check out on youtube if you want to hear the sort of range you can get out of it. Personally I think it's a bit of a dated sound- I like a more scratchy metal guitar tone. You can't palm mute with this pedal.

As the pedal landscape continues to trend towards smaller enclosures with players stuffing as many top-mounted jack enclosures next to each other as they can, I found the EHX Big Muff Pi incredibly refreshing. I've had as many boutique gain pedals as the next white, thirty-something idiot with more disposable income than sense, but I'll readily admit to being stunned by the variation of tones available across just three knobs. Tone and saturation are massively interactive, and you'll lose more time than you'd imagine blending the two and discovering different sounds. It's a classic for a reason.

This is an astonishing piece of kit. Why has it taken me 25 years to find out about it. Dirty 70s rock, Dinosaur Jr, Smashing Pumpkins. amazing range of sounds. I was thinking about getting rid of my Fender Deluxe VM but no longer need to. delivered very quickly from Germany too.

The pedal came a day early of the stated delivery date after a wait of around 2 weeks. Lucky someone was home!The box was unsealed, dog eared and dented so it seemingly had a rough journey. The pedal itself has no visible damage. Not the best though when you're paying a bit more and waiting for a premium bit of kit.The pedal itself is awesome! I tested it out of the box for a couple of hours. A great bit of kit and a lot of fun to use! Although l'm not sure my neighbours share the same feelings toward it!

Cela fait quelques temps que la Big Muff me fait de l'oeil. C'est un grand classique mais qui reste vraiment efficace.3 potards et en quelques secondes ça envoie du gras, du sale, bref de la fuzz à l'ancienne sans se prendre la tête. Une bonne pédale Old school qui fait le job qu'on attend, je l'ai couplé avec une Hm2 pour un effet booste, le résultat est tout simplement bluffant et aussi très puissant.
