Review: Building Construction Handbook - 11th Edition - by Chudley and Greeno . - Many years ago I had the three-volume set of Mitchell's , but I gave them to a young student . Whilst browsing a while ago , I came across this book on desertcart's site . It appeared to have very good reviews , so I thought I would buy it and see if it lived-up to the reviews . Well , I was not disappointed . It is a very comprehensive compilation of all aspects of construction from setting-out and leveling to tiling on the roof , including information on the necessary services . There is a mass of information on structural design and construction . It is very well illustrated and with much detailing . It is a large book with over 1000 pages . This book should be one of the first to be purchased by students of architecture , building surveying and engineering . However , old "soldiers" like me will find it very useful . Excellent book . Review: Great for anyone wanting to be involved in Construction - Bought this book to assist me with my University degree and also for my future professional development. The book is huge and with over 1000 pages, it really covers so many bases. From planning permission, to steelworks and tiling, it gives great explanations using a variety of drawings and diagrams with text. For someone starting out or wanting to improve their knowledge within the construction industry, this book really is a great start. The index and contents pages really are very useful, the index is especially in-depth making it so much easier to find the exact page you are looking for.

House Building Bible!
I used to work as a laborer >10 years ago so had an idea about building concepts but not the details. This book is enabling me to create detailed plans and building regulations specifications for my home extension. I plan to install the foundations myself and this book gives all the information and a huge number of diagrams and examples which help me to understand this. It was recommended to me by a Chartered Surveyor as "the bible" of house-building, and I agree!

Great book to have in your library
Excellent book for Construction Management students and professionals. Whilst the book only contains the basic principles, I feel it more than enough sufficient content and detail to cover the BSc programme without getting too bogged down by the details. Would recommend.

Impressive book
The book is brilliant - written in a very clear and well organised way. A lot more information than I thought and 100% worth it.

Excellent Support for an Architect
One of my former employers recommended this book to me, as a means of getting the hang of the main construction building methods in the UK in order to be able to complete as an Architect, working drawings and building regulations' packages. I must say, using it as a foundation and adding specialised manufacturers' documentation and details I found online when needed, was the best and most thorough method to indulge in the uk construction systems and methods, having worked as an architect in Greece up until two years ago.

Must read for any respectable builder
This is an excellent guide for anyone working in the construction industry. It's a weighty tome but covers everything from Building Regs and Planning through to finishes. I could be better if it wasn't all in black and white. The illustrations take a little time to decipher because of the monochrome presentation. I would happily pay a little more for a full-colour print!
