A Clash of Three Courts

So, if you've done the Throne of Glass Series, then you can kind of understand the pain this book caused me. This is the equivalent of Tower of Dawn. Now, I freaking loved that book, and this one was fantastic as well. But with the way A Throne From the Ashes ended, you get the pain, because it's the same type of heart wrench, soul shredding ending Empire of Storms unleashed upon readers.That being said, I really liked this book, I liked seeing what was happening back with Nik, Tauria, Jakon and Marlowe. We saw Faythe's journey, and now it was time to see what the other half were doing.Plot wise - so much happens in this book. It takes place at the same time as everything going on in book 3 (a little before the events and a bit afterwards) but it was interesting watching how things lined up, and how they impacted the world around them. I really loved that even though the main friend group is separated right now, they're still working towards finding helpful insights and information.And the ending... and everything leading up to the ending... phew. I really can't wait to dive into book 5 - I'm tempted to go grab the ebook and start, but I'm kind of obsessed with the audio, and then there's going to be a wait for the next two books, so am I really in a rush? I'm dying to find out what happens next, but if I inhale it the way I did the first four, then I'm stuck waiting and I don't know if I can deal.

I did a Tandem read and honestly it was the best decision.It was oke, but honestly i was not really interested in Tauira, as not much really happened in the book, only the last chapters were insteresting.I loved Nik in the first 2 books, that didn't change.I honestly still don't understand why Marlowe has no POV.

You might be wary going into this book, as Faythe doesn't feature. Don't worry. A Clash of Three Courts serves all the adventure, romance, and intrigue you have come to know while being completely its own.This book follows Nik and Tauria as Tauria forges a marriage alliance with Tarly Wolverlon, Prince of Olmstone, while on a mission to uncover their plans. I adored the delicious angst and tension between the couple ( with a rewarding payoff! ). Tauria was so resilient through it all. I love the strong, confident woman she is becoming - and Nik? He needs to be protected. At all costs. Tarly though...I am so pleasantly surprised by the way that he bonded with Tauria. There are so few books with situations like this that don't have a dreaded love triangle. Tarly is precious, and he must be protected along with Nik.The plot gradually culminates to a heart-stopping climax. Questions are answered and yet more are posed as seeds are planted for later books. The fast-paced chess play between courts was a definite highlight.The bonus chapters at the back are a gift: Faythe's rise was everything, and so was Nik and Tauria's first meeting - which provided an unexpected new character. Blue flame though? I might have a theory about a certain Prince of Dalrune...

Very good book. You need to read the first 3 books in the series, to start the story from the beginning.
