WOW
Well written and entertaining Non stop and very quick moving. Sometimes I try and speed read to get to the next conclusion to N issue in the book. It keeps your interest the whole way through.

I like the author
The series is good, and I really like the author, all the books I've rated 5*, but this one is my least favorite, as the second 2/3rds is just one long fight scene. It's a bit tedious. If you want to write a screen play, then do it, but a stream of disjointed skills, bouncing from one point of view to the next, literally without finishing sentences is just an ADHD nightmare, and doesn't make for a good novel. But Im hoping the next book is more adventure and less monotonous battles.

So much happened!!
Felix, at the end of this book, is a completely different character than he was at the beginning. This change was entirely due to his leveling and evolution as both a Nym as well as Unbound. There were a couple of points, mostly during major battles, that I found the rate of his evolving skills to get confusing, and I had to stop and reread these sections several times to understand what was going on.I’m excited to see how this story develops. Will we find out exactly who/what the Pathless is? And why did that entity remain when all others left? Is Haarwatch even a part of the Hierocracy any longer? Why do the Initiates all claim that following the Chant is an easy way to power when all evidence points to it being the much more difficult means to attain power?

too many major battles back to back with no real downtime. Annoyingly voiced archids.
I enjoyed the book, but the last half becomes one, big, extremely important battle after another without the downtime between for character building and personal moments. It became exhausting, and I felt like, for all of his importance, Pit took a major backseat in the last half.As for the audible narration, the way the archids are voiced is absolutely grating to the point that it's hard to listen to them for extended periods of time.

There is only so much anyone can take, when would you say Enough?
Felix has been in constant state of survival since being pulled into this world. He’s had to hide what he is, what he can do and where he’s from for too long. He’s finally going to open up to his closest friends and share some of the truth.Meanwhile the Archon’s plan for Haarwatch proceeds without anyone the wiser. Soon all hell will break loose within the city and Felix and Pit won’t survive as they are. Running from one fight or struggle to another is wearing Felix down, but as more and more people get behind his “Fiend” persona he begins to find that connections run deeper than anyone had said. Because power is everywhere if you are strong enough to take it and keep it.Control of Haarwatch as well as it’s citizens lives are at stake as beasts attack from the former Foglands, while within the city the zealots of purity sabotage the wall, citizens of the city hide in fear, and the Guild that protects it all faces annihilation as the Archon’s minions arrive with an augmented force for the final confrontation. This city and its inhabitants will never be the same, if they survive at all.

always a slog in the mid
Still in the fight. If divided by 1/5, 2 n 4 always bog down but still reached a satisfactory ending with a follow on which isn’t forced

Unique and innovative
Finally a series that doesn't follow the same path as so many others. Characters develop over time and become not just interesting but important to the story. Writers style evolves with each book and leaves you wanting more. Character evolution still not God like but levels out constantly. Fights are extremely well written.

Like UFC had a good time with the Russian Ballet
A constant, well choreographed brawl from start to finish, with some powering up thrown in for good measure.Author is very good at writing in this style. Can't wait for the next book!
