Fantastic Value FX30 – Excellent for Video (and Still Photos Too)
As a longtime devoted fan of Sony’s A7 series since the very first model, I was incredibly excited to finally get my hands on the FX30. I bought it primarily for video recording, but I’ve also been testing it extensively as a stills camera with various lenses — and I’m loving it. The camera feels solid and well-balanced in the hand, with excellent ergonomics and a great set of features. So far, I’ve encountered zero technical issues. I purchased this unit as “renewed,” and I have to say it’s outstanding value for the money. Considering its impressive capabilities and the fact that it’s a mirrorless camera, the size and weight feel very reasonable.

Footage looks great!
Very happy with this camera! Great sensor and image quality. Easy to use and captured really good footage with lots of different light set ups. Highly recommend!

Finally upgraded from my Sony FS-5
Yiu can read all you want about this camera online. You cant go wrong with this one. I preferred the non fill frame as I already own apsc and super 35 sony lenses. The things that sold me on the FX 30 was the low cost compared to the others in the FX family. I use the Timecode with the multi pin USB connector with an inexpensive adapter online. And the android app allows you to have access to metering and a wireless image viewer that is beyond helpful in a one man band video shoot.

95% FX3 for half the price.
Better than you think. Sibling to FX3 half the price 95% of the image. I have tested them side by side. Is that full frame worth 2x the price. Not for me. It looks 95% the same. The trade off is that FX3 can do 120fps without cropping. This has additional crop for 120, which could be a bonus if you are doing long-distance wildlife. But the FX3 does 12mp stills. FX30 does 26mp stills.

Love my FX-30! Bought "refurbished-excellent" and it came in perfect condition. Immediately increasing video quality. 100 percent recommend.

Camera is amazing but there is NOT a battery charger like the description says
The Good: The camera is in amazing condition and I love it. The Frustration: The description under WHAT'S IN THE BOX specifically says there is a USB Battery Charger, but that is not completely true. See my photo of what they call a "charger", it is a USB wall plug! The Sony battery included doesn't have a USB port to charge it directly so you need to buy an actual charger. This set me back a little because I had to order one and wait to get it. Now, work-around... you can use the USB cable and wall plug to plug in the actual camera and it works as a very slow charger, but that is not convenient. It would be nice to be more specific in the description indicating that it does NOT include a battery charger. And, it would have been nice to see a photo of what was in the box, with something that explicitly said "*charger not included".
