Do these come with an inline mic?

These do not have a mic, but they do sell a version of the re-400 with a microphone called the re-400i for iPhones and the re-400a for Androids.

Has the problem with breakage (see some reviews) been remedied in recent RE400s?

These buds may not be for you if you abuse your stuff and then look to blame someone else for breakage. If you pay attention, you'll notice they do not seem indestructible and you'll need to make an effort not to step on them and not rip the wires out of their connections and don't catch the leads in a zipper.
