Did the job
Good coverage, easy to use clear instructions, not washed yest so can't comment on durability but did the job economically.

Not quite the colour I was expecting
From reviews and listing pics I was expecting a pinky medium brown, like milky coffee or maybe a bit darker.(see yarn pic) I got dark rusty brown, like the varnish on my balcony. The yarn is 100% wool.

A faff to use
A lot of faffing, need a huge pan or stove top container to fit a pair of jeans in. White jeans came out OK, little bit patchy if you look closely. Wouldn't use again. I'd get the 'throw it all in the washer one' much more convenient and no mess to contend with. Will be great for smaller items.

Doesn’t really work
I used it in my washing machine and followed the instructions on their website. It didn’t dye the nylon jacket but left stain on the machine.

Decent clothing reviver
This has given a new lease of life to two expensive Red T-shirts that became faded due to exposure to direct sunlight. A mixture of hot water (in a plastic bucket), salt and the powder dye and 30 minutes later after soaking, the T-shirts look brand new, beautiful shade of a darker red that’s vibrant

Fantastic if you do your research first
I used two different shades of Rit powder to dye two old cotton bedspreads with tassels - one Kelly Green and the other Wine - in my washing machine. (I was trying to copy the effect of an unaffordable throw I saw in Anthropologie, ha ha.) I'm pleasantly surprised by the results, particularly because I should have used two packages of dye for each item given their weight. There were no streaks at all and the coverage was even, including through the tassels. The colour would doubtless have been deeper if I'd used two packets, but I'm quite happy with a slightly 'faded' look for this project. Having researched methods, I followed the advice to wash the items first WITHOUT FABRIC CONDITIONER and make sure they're still soaking wet when you start the dying process (so drain, don't spin, after the wash). My notes for the next time I do this are: 1) Tear open the cardboard box to access full instructions for 'advanced washing machine' printed on its inner side; 2) wear rubber gloves to open the envelope of powder and also - VERY IMPORTANT - eye protection; 3) put the contents of the dye envelope plus one US cup of salt into the powder dispenser; 4) use the soak programme; 5) as the machine fills, carefully chase the powder/salt from the dispenser into the drum with a kettle full of hot water; 6) let the soak programme do its work and make sure it's drained at the end; 7) use a gentle detergent and a delicates cycle to wash the item; 8) send the item through a rinse and spin cycle then hang out to dry. When I'd finished both items I ran a little bleach through a 90-degree wash cycle and drained. I'll report back if my next wash comes out wine or green coloured, but I'm pretty sure everything's colour-fast. (My washing machine is about 12 years old, BTW, so there are probably more state-of-the-art ways of doing all this.) It's all quite time-consuming and slightly messy but interesting. I don't think it's massively environmentally friendly, not least because of the energy and water used, but probably better than sending old stuff to landfill. I reckon the total cost for the bedspreads (which are about 20 years old) in dye, salt and water (I used free solar electricity) was quite a bit less than £10 for the two - so take that, Anthropologie!

Merci RIT ❤⚘

I have a dress that I really love and one day alittle bleach got splashed on my blue dress I was so devastated trying to figure out how or what I could do to fix it . I finally decided some blue dye and if it didn't work then I would throw my dress away. But it worked so got no more bleach splash stains thank you for saving my favorite dress
