In times of plague, specialist doctors were employed to treat the sick. Many wore a protective costume consisting of leather robes, hat, and gloves, and a distinctive mask with a bird-like beak and goggles. The mask was filled with fragrant herbs and scents as a protection from disease. Love it! I work for Public Health, hunting the critters that host the buggers that may spread such an awful disease. We have a "killer ornament exchange " this time of year. It's hard to find " Vector" related ornaments. This one with the caduceus, on the end of the staff? Perfect!!!!_
