With the Munchkin stair gate it's perfect, sturdy and functional.
Excellent! I got a Munchkin stair gate from Boots for an open-plan kitchen entryway, and needed an additional 25cm of gate. This came and worked perfectly, although it was grey and my gate was white. But the gate is sturdy, easy to open for an adult, but nigh-impossible for a toddler to open. I use it every day when cooking and it never lets me down. Perfect for stopping crawling babies, toddlers 2 years +. Please note this review is only relevant if you have the Stairgate to go with it.

Great item if your stair gate doesnt quite fit
Once I read the instructions it was super easy to put together with my Munchkin stair gate. So far it seems stable although I did have to also purchase some attachments as I have spindle banisters. Its now the perfect size to fit my stairs and means I can actually open and close the gate rather than just having it propped closed!

Work perfectly but a bugger to fit
I bought two of these, one for either side of the sure shut gate. These work perfectly and are very solid. However, to fit them you have to remove the fittings from the original gate. The top fittings are easy to remove... The bottom ones required a selection of screw drivers, an adjustable spanner, a big rubber mallet and a healthy arsenal of swear words.. Oh and two plasters. The instructions say to prise out the bung with a flat screwdriver. My experience was prise it about 3mm with a screw driver, dig a smaller screwdriver in the side to prise it a further 3mm. Swear a lot. Jam spanner behind edges of bung and whack with mallet. Smash knuckles into edge of metal when bung finally pops out. Apply plaster. The mallet was also required to seat the extension firmly in the gate. Essentially beat it repeatedly till its securely in place. In summary, the extension is great. Removal of the bungs in the original gate is designed to cause pain and frustration.

Great but not cheap
The stair gate and extender are both great. Easy installation with 2 people, solid, safe & looks nice which can’t be said for most stair gates. Shame the extender is so expensive. Bad value for money.
