Super Clear Water
I was skeptical of this. I have a variety of small fish in a 20 gal tank. Plus snails who make a mess. This pump works amazing. I’ve been running it as a pump only with out the attached hose thing on top. I reached out to their customer support to verify it would work like this bc I didn’t like the amount of micro bubbles and noise it made with the hose on as an air pump. They got back in less than 24hours confirming you can use it without the air pump attachment. You can visually see the UV light on. It lights green. I kept the sponge inside bc I didn’t have green algae. My tank was just cloudy and dirty from the snails. I did clean the glass first and stirred the gravel a bit to get things moving. 2 days later. Crystal clear. I do have a hang on the back filter from petsmart that gets nasty pretty quick. This is a great addition for any tank.

Green clearing machine
I recently set up a 20 gallon aquarium in my greenhouse. I use native plants from the canal. Unfortunately some of the plants I collected brought in algae. It went wild! I prefer to not filter the water and only use a bubbler normally. I bought this for the UV killing properties. I removed the foam filter and set the variable timer on the light for six hours. I’M IMPRESSED! It has taken almost two weeks but the water is reasonably clear. You can actually see through all the way thru the aquarium. The water will never be clear, that’s not the nature of the aquarium, but the algae has cleared and continues to do so. Which I s what I wanted. After all, it’s a PLANT AQUARIUM, the mosquito fish are just there to control the mosquitos. A good product. I’m pleased.

nice and strong
I bought this unit to see if it can clear my 40gl breeder tank that I have 4 African claw frogs in, they really get the water cloudy because they are eating machines, so I set this up the next day I took a double take ,I didn't believe how much better the water looked and this was only over night I set the UV for 6 hours, the next day the water was so clear I can see were all the frogs are in the tank, it was amazing how fast it cleared the water , I took out the sponge for the first week ,,,,, I'm going to buy another one for my other 40 gl tank

Works well but ...
Love that it clears the water fast! Especially when we had live plants. But ...I can't seem to get the filter cover off! I've squeezed and pulled from both sides and it just won't budge.Does the unit have to be completely dry to get the cover to move?If I could easily remove the cover, I would give full stars.Oh and don't use with live plants either. They tend to gunk it up so it needs cleaning DAILY. Now that we've removed the live plants, it goes longer, tho I've not noted how long.Make it come apart easier but still stay together under water (a clip, maybe?) and I'd totally love it. I know.my turtle appreciates clear water in her tank.

Uv light not on
I'm not sure if the light bulb not functioning, or the whole assembly defective. But for sure the uv bulb not work. In that picture, I plugged accordingly to the outlet to see if the bulb on, and its not. The pump does work.NOTE : I requested to exchanged with the new one. And they sent me and I satisfied with the results for my fish tank,,,, the water is crystal clear now. Thank you.

UV light
This thing is amazing. Our fish tank was murky, starting to get stuff on the glass, I installed this, removed the yellow sponge insert, turned it on full time, within 24 hours there was a noticeable difference, few days later, maybe 4-5, tank is spotless. Having algae eaters for the rocks helps. Now we run this only 3 hours a day, it has a timer for that. Good product.

Decrease in algae
I saw an immediate decrease in brown algae (diatoms) after using this. My water source has silica in it so not much I can do about that. My glass would be brown and I would have to scrap it weekly. Now I don't have to scrap as often and my glass looks clean for longer. I see less green algae as well. If the algae is on the glass, you would have to run the uv while scraping the glass to get the algae to be treated. My one con is that the timer doesn't keep time very well. Overall, the UV filter works though.

Excellent product! It did an amazing job of clearing up my aquarium algae bloom 🤗
My tank was plagued by a green algae bloom that would not go away no matter what I tried. I read other reviews on this UV filter in particular, and there were many happy customers, so I put in my order. The package arrived fast and everything arrived in tact. It was super easy to assemble and get running. I removed the yellow sponge filter so to run the UV light. Love the timer function! I started on a 12 hour timer. I started to notice a difference in the water clarity the next day. On day 5, I switched the timer to 3 hours. The tank was crystal clear by day 7. So happy!!!

Broke after 3 months. Sellers ignored my request for help.
I rarely write reviews but considering the cost, the pump on the UV light broke after 3 months. Contacted the seller they gave me advice on algae and I asked them to rectify the broken product again and they ignored. Do not buy.

Good product well made
There are two versions of this product, I bought the smaller one (mostly because I didn't see the larger one) for 10-40 Gal tanks. The product is meant to be submersed in the tank, but the air tube was not long enough to put this on the bottom of my tank and have it reach outside the tank. Fortunately, the tube was a standard size so I made my own. This works extremely well as a bubbler creating incredible oxygenation that the fish seem to really like. You can control the amount of bubbles by a dial outside the tank that lets more or less air in. Noise is relatively low, and definitely no where near as annoying as the bubbler I had. The amount of noise it makes is related to the amount of oxygenation you choose, but even on the max it's not overly noisy. The output can be directed to where you want it. They include a foam insert, but tell you to NOT use the foam insert if your going to use the UV light, so I'm not sure the point of it. The unit draws 11W for pump and UV light with the UV light being a 5W bulb (the larger unit has a larger pump and larger bulb). I have no idea if 5W is enough or not. The bulb itself is visible from the bottom of the pump but if you have the bulb on a timer then it would be hard to know whether the bulb is burned out or if the timer is just off. The timer allows you to choose the number of hours per 24 hour, but there is no clock on the device so I guess it starts counting when you plug it in, or if you have a power hit, it all resets. If there was a weakness, it's this timer, but for the price this is an acceptable choice. Honestly, I'm not sure why I wouldn't just leave it on 24x7 for 5W. I have no idea if the UV light will make any difference in the algae levels in the tank, but it sure can't hurt. I have no clue where I would get a replacement bulb when it burns out, and I don't know how long the expected life of the bulb is, or how often I should clean it. All in all a good product.
