The Blue Aspic

I first saw Edward Gorey Artwork when I was 2 years old, and began collecting his books and artwork by the time I was 18. The drawings in the Blue Aspic are classic gorgeous Gorey at his most fabulous, each page dripping with amazing black and white patterns in exciting fabrics, wallpapers, sets, etc. His women are exotic beauties, his men in fur coats and mysterious. The humor is mordant. Dont miss this volume.

This book is a great addition to my collection of Gorey's books. It's quirky and non sensical. I couldn't help but grin as I read the book.

I love this Edward Gorey book, the artwork is beautiful and as always the story is just the right amount of odd. I grew up loving these books, I gift these to my best friend's daughter and she loves them as well.

A fascinating book, I have already read two other books by Edward Gorey, and this one certainly did not disappoint me in the slightest. It's a dark, gothic, eccentric, and bizarrely charming work, and an extremely wonderful combination of writing and illustration. If Edward Gorey's books are even half this good, than I have some amazing experiences in reading ahead of me.

And that is saying something when you are talking about subjects like murder and stalking. When I was a child, Mystery Theater was on regularly and I always loved the intros. Never knew who did them until becoming an adult and the Internet provided me with the answer. Since I have purchased several Gorey books and this is one of his best.

I own a lot of Gorey's books and this is one of my favorites. It's beautifully illustrated and is a great price. I have been a fan of his for many years and this is one of his finer works. If you are a Gorey fan this is a must have!

Another Edward Gorey beautifully illustrated book, a present for my son who loves the pen and ink drawings as well as the surrealistic story.

No happy ending here, a painful and macabre tale accompanied by hauntingly beautiful drawings and gothic text. This is a short story but due to the intricate and engaging illustrations you can spend ages just looking through it. I have lots of Edward Gorey books and other merchandise and am pleased to have this in my collection.
