Peanuts: Two Movie Collection [DVD]

It was the 60's, Charlie Brown
Back in the 1965, the popular cartoon strip Peanuts made the leap to tv animation with a twenty five minute long cartoon entitled 'A Charlie Brown christmas'. A big hit, many more followed. They were often shown on British TV back in the 1970's. And the holiday themed ones are still shown every year in primetime on US tv on the day in question. So to call them timeless classics is an understatement. This is a two disc dvd, collecting the first six of the Peanuts tv shows. All were made back in the 1960's. All run for twenty five mins.Disc one has:A Charlie Brown Christmas. Where Charlie Brown, despairing of christmas being commerical, hunts for it's true meaning.Charlie Brown's all-stars. Where Charlie Brown's baseball team have a chance of moving up in the world. It's the great pumpkin, Charlie Brown. It's Halloween but Linus won't come to the party, as he's convinced the great pumpkin is going to visit. All can be watched indiviually or in a row.Disc two:You're in love, Charlie Brown. Charlie Brown is smitten by a classmate, but his attempts to impress her don't go to plan. He's your dog, Charlie Brown. Snoopy needs obedience lessons. It was a short summer, Charlie Brown. Girls V boys in sports at camp. And only the masked marvel can save the latter from total humiliation. The animation is naturally somewhat dated, even with the remastered pictures. Many of these do just take original Peanuts strips and work them into the script. But they are all so well done that they work brilliantly. Watch the christmas one on Dec 25th, and you will come away with tears in your eyes.Disc two also has an thirty five min documentary 'Vince Guaraldi; the maestro of Menlo Park' all about the Jazz musician who wrote the music for these. Which was absolutely superb, so this is a fascinating and very good watch.A great collection for bringing back memories of 70's tv. Or making new Peanuts fans. Well worth five stars.Languages and subtitles on it are:Languages: English, German, Latin Spanish, Polish.Subtitles: English, German, Castilian Spanish, Polish.

Absolutely smashing
This receives a five-stars, for this product offers my expectations. That being, it's offers the Peanuts specials of the 1960s, considered the best collection of Peanuts specials of all other decade for telling meaningful storylines that have poignancy and like all good pieces of artwork, it leads us to question afterwards.Peanuts being a satisfyingly timeless piece of animation, I enjoyed that this meets my expectation. Let the cosy, calm movements of Peanuts relax you, and the beautiful art work of Bill Melendez fascinate you. It really is the break from our high-action and whizzy we all need. Peanuts really is a rather unique thing in the world of entertainment. This is brilliant for all ages, for that can be credited to Peanuts retaining the newspaper quality of innocence and genius humour of comic strips. Snoopy's loveable antics is adored by children. While so, the intricate pathos of Charlie Brown is felt and related to well by the older audiences. And that's some of the most intriguing aspects of Peanuts, it's ability to perfectly offer a balance to a whole range of audience.I would like to add some information about the DVD, the resolution is 720 by 576. While nobody is expects a full-HD production here, the re-mastering for this quality of production is very well done, while still having that desirable home-spun feel to it.

With Trepidation
I bought the DVD for a little girl who I wanted to share the pleasure I remember in seeing the 1960's episodes on TV. I had nothing to worry about. She was entranced by the quirky humour and strangely deep understanding of the human condition, that the characters in Peanuts engender. Perhaps the stangest result was I enjoyed it more than the first time round. Perhaps maturity allows you to see more. Anyway the little girl wanted to know if there was more and could she have them. Notice the word have and not see. Obviously she wants to go back again and again; the sign of a new fan.Recommended to all the young at heart, no matter what their age.

Very decent quality DVD, though seemed a little on the pricey side. Delivered more earlier than expected.

Poor Marnie Moo!
I just couldn't wait to get hold of this and view it, even though it was supposed to be a Christmas present for my little girl! Having said that, she seems to love it as much as I do. When these "specials" aired during my 1970s childhood Christmasses, I loved nothing better than curling up to watch them, with a handful of choccies - it's the same today!! I'm 41, and these films have lost none of their appeal. Charlie Brown's angst is even more pertinent today than it ever was. They thought Christmas was commercial back then - what would the Peanuts gang have to say about it now!??!

Trans-generational entertainment!
I bought this because I wanted to re-live some of the memories of Charlie Brown and Snoopy from my childhood, but I showed it to my 2-year-olds as an alternative to their staple viewing(Peppa, cBeebies) and it has now firmly established its place as a firm favourite for family viewing time. The kids love the music, the little excerpts of Snoopy's antics and my son finds Charlie Brown's teacher (wah wah waah) absolutely hilarious.Fantastic value DVD for classic entertainment. I now wish that the remastered 70's editions could be released for a similar price as I really want to expand the library, but can't stretch to import prices!!

Smiling
I'm giving this 4 stars jusb because I have been wanting the Christmas special for a long time.. I remember all of the shows from my childhood. I haven't even opened the box . . . gee I hope they work. After reading the reviews I am confident that they will work just fine. My 3 children 24 and 21 (twins) have grown up with the music (Vince Guaraldi Tri) from the Christmas special but have never seen the film. Guess what we'll be watching next Christmas?

a very good product you get the original Charlie Brown Christmas special ...
a very good product you get the original Charlie Brown Christmas special and it's the great pumpkin, Charlie Brown . Those are classics , but the ones I really enjoy are the ones I haven't seen in years like it was a short summer, Charlie Brown , Charlie Brown All-Stars I admit before I bought this product . I didn't do much research and I was expecting episodes of the Charlie Brown and Snoopy show I didn't expect full-length movies . However , I am very satisfied with what I received except for the Christmas episode they don't put these on TV much anymore , so it's a real treat to get to see them even though I have very limited memories of some of the movies I remember seeing them , but until I saw them again . I'd forgotten how entertaining. They are Charlie Brown and Snoopy along with the rest of the gang have always held a special place in my heart I know it's strange for a full-grown man to get sentimental over a cartoon , but I can remember watching Charlie Brown cartoons with my parents and that's a really good memory and this set helped to bring that memory back if you're a fan of peanuts , then you need to have this in your collection
