Set phasers to fun
Set phasers to fun - that's what it states on the back of the packaging & I ain't disagreeing with that. Enough has been written about the animated adventures over the years, so I ain't going to waste your time with that. Personally I love these adventures. So this is a review of the Bluray release.First off the Bluray discs themselves are the same as those in the 50th anniversary box-set, with the same artwork on the discs. Not sureif this is a limited feature with the bluray release, but the first editions come with what the packaging describes as "22 Postcards". But Postcards these are not. They are glossy prints, the same size as a standard Bluray case - so slightly bigger than postcards. They are artworks for each of the 22 episodes by Juan Ortiz - I think you'd pay at least a pound for each for these, so fans of Juan's work should just buy the set now !!The Blurays themselves are better than the DVDs. Audio is definitely a set-up. Visually not such a step-up, some of the compression blurs are gone but we're not looking at the crisp-edged animation restorations provided on Disney releases. And the text commentaries are presented better than the DVDs, same text but just presented better.Sadly no extra commentaries, or features. But the Juan Oritz artcards make this worth buying. And support for Star Trek re-issues on bluray (like Deep Space Nine please !!)

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few
Or the one. Not as good as I remembered to be honest. Some of the stories are quite challenging with an array of stellar authors from TOS and others, and it is glorious to have the voices from the original cast but as a lifelong Trek fan left me a bit cold. Perhaps I am as ever looking through rose tinted spectacles. Animation was the biggest letdown, really quite clunky, although I grew up with seventies' stuff so should not have been expecting more. For hardcore fans only methinks. I cannot possibly insult Star Trek too much though as it has been the story of my life...! Live long and prosper x

Standing by Captain.
I had the most vague memory of an animated Star Trek as a kid, I seemed to remember 1 or 2 things as a child but I was so young I thought I may have imagined it.Nope, it was real, found it on google then of course here.Loving it. Real blast from the past and with the original voices it is just brilliant. Not sure where Chekhov went or the weird insectoid thingy that has replaced him but who cares. It is great fun.

Well worth getting for TOS fans.
Was familiar with all the shows from the original Star Trek. Enjoyed listening to podcasts like Mission Log where they discuss the shows in depth, so purchased this in order to listen to the podcasts on the animated series TAS. For only £12 it's excellent value. The animation is often primitive, though for some shows like 'Yesteryear' it has good artwork and expands on ideas from the original series shows.Often the shows are like ideas for scripts for TOS that were not used for some reason like they would not have been feasible to film.

Great to finally own these 22 important episodes
I have been intending to order this for years now and finally got round to it recently. Often referred to by enthusiasts as the original series "4th season", since the writers are from the originals, as are the actors who voice the animations. The episodes are shorter than the live action series (which initially surprised me) so some of them seem a bit rushed but for seasoned old Trekkies like me the magic is still there. Great to finally own these 22 important episodes which completes my Star Trek DVD collection.

All those wondrous worlds!
What's not to like about this series? Using the voice talents of the beloved actors, and based on strong stories, the episodes succeeded in entertaining as well as providing fodder for my thoughts with remarkable ease.Recommended, goes without saying.
