Mestemacher Whole Grain Bread (Organic Three Grain, 17.6 oz, pack of 2)

First of all, I don't understand what these complaints are about. You either got lemons, which is not very common, or you do not understand how to store bread. This is Westphalian Pumpernickel bread, which is freshly baked bread that has been baked for about 24 hours at a low temperature in the oven, and packaged with reduced oxygen (and the process to make this able to be baked is arduously long). It does not store the exact same way toasting bread (which is what you will commonly see in American and British supermarkets) does, so of course it will mould up very quickly in the shelf once opened. We have the technology to store this stuff for the long term (freezer), or for a rather short term (refrigerator). We also have resealable bags (Ziploc bags). Figure it out, people! This stuff is great. You need to toast this stuff for quite a long period of time (generally at the very highest toast setting possible) before it's nice and crispy. It is otherwise very intense to consume flavour-wise if it hasn't been heated up or toasted yet. Use cream cheese, tzatziki sauce, sausages, and other cheeses like Gouda, Gruyere, or other aged cheeses and strong-flavoured cheeses. ANY strong toppings/fillings (and even some lighter ones) will complement this bread wonderfully. It's a great open-face sandwiching bread as well, and you could probably make a regular sandwich out of it, too. They are also thinly sliced, so yes, it is expected to see this happen when you start to bend it beyond its usual limits. Again, this is absolutely embarrassing to watch people call this great product a bad one when the problem almost always lies on the user, themselves.

Always delicious!! I absolutely love these breads. They are delicious plain, or toasted. They are very good for you and high quality. I also make a similar long ferment travel bread. However, this one is super delicious and so handy! Also take with me traveling because it's so handy!!!

Horrible and expensive. Texture is something like "banana bread" not quite firm and crumbly. Toasting twice to make it resemble more of a cracker is all I can do with it. Very dry and nowhere near the wonderful tangy flavor of a good pumpernickel bagel. Not worth $7 per pound

I was surprised when I ordered it. I assumed each package was 8 ounces but actually eat packages 17.6 ounces and it’s the best pumpernickel bread I’ve had in years it’s made the less fallen way in Germany. That will last for months and it won’t raise your blood sugar as far as I can tell.

Simple, clean, tasty, especially toasted and heavily buttered. If you've lived on the part of the world where this is made, you appreciate it. If not, give it a try. Far better for you than the poisonous bread that's somehow legal in North America.

the bread is delicious and the texture when toasted,I love...only not wonderful thing is that the sliced loaf is very fragile and could easily be damaged during shipping process. But I was still able to toast the parts that separated, and it is fine.

I love this bread! Mestemacher whole grain rye bread is so good. I toast it twice because it is so dense. Delicious! I had never had anything like it before. I just ordered it because I wanted authentic rye bread. I’ve been trying to eat better and this bread has lots of fiber, and like 4 ingredients. And I like saying the name. Mestemacher!! :)

Like the bread but the packaging was horrible. Usual it came in a box now just in a thin envelope. Not at all great for such a heavy item 😮
