Copies of this book has been used in a Year 6 classroom ; which has been really helpful for their writing work.The book arrived in Excellent condition,in good time and came with the CD too.

This book definitely deserves five stars. I bought this book and put another two in the basket so I would have a variety of teaching resources at hand for creative writing; however, I soon found out that, without doubt, this is the definitive guide for creating some of the best work I have ever marked. Landscapes, place, characters and features are expertly crafted into sections which are then phrased by nouns, adjectives and verbs. Sample sentences are another key feature which allows all this fantastic language work to be threaded together.I cannot speak more highly of this gem of a book. It's not just for teachers. Anyone can access the materials in this book - the possibilities are endless!What's more, there's a CD with all of the resources on too. As you can probably tell, I am really pleased with this book. You won't be disappointed.

Excellent. EXCELLENT book. My boy, who when given written homework can take all weekend and come up with 3 lines of rubbish. (maybe pushing a level 4 on a good day)Gave him this book and set him off with his homework task. With a bit of encouragement and guidance on how to use the book came back with a full page.His homework was outstanding said his class teacher in Good work assembly and marked his first paragraph as a level 5. Then asked how he had done it. He took the book in and now she wants 4 for the classroom.Well worth the money!

I'd never come across this before, to my shame as a dyslexia specialist, but the parent of a tutee strongly recommended this as a wonderful way of promoting creative writing independence. The index takes a little getting used to/tutoring, but it's certainly helped some of my students; and has also been taken up by two of my local schools, and some more parents individually. Wonderfully atmospheric synonyms, much better than many thesauruses (thesauri?).

The guide for idiots with no imagination. If you need an English-by-numbers, (like painting-by-numbers), this is an excellent book. It requires no imagination, but that seems to be the modern approach to learning...if you have no knowledge or experience of writing creatively, and want to help you child (7+), this book can be really useful. No one seems to be interested in learning thoroughly anymore, and this is the perfect cheat sheet for exam preparation. Depressing, but effective.

Bought for my 10 year old to help with his literacy. I must say I was really impressed with this book. Recommended by his teacher I feel this will be a big help. Initially I thought the price was rather steep but bought it as he does struggle and any help is welcome, but after looking through it, the book is well worth every penny, my 13 year old can dip into it too for creative writing and it will be passed on to my 6 year old. Fast efficient delivery by amazon too.

All my family love the ideas in all the descriptosaurus books.

Absolutely amazing book. Bought it to support my own child, but took it into school to show the rest of my department. Greeted with a series of 'oohs' and 'aahs'. Ignore the upper age limit of 14 - this would be incredibly useful, right up to lower/mid ability sets in KS4.Can't praise it highly enough. Please note that the CD ROM contains a large number of resources, activities and games, which are not actually in the book itself.
