exactly how easy are these to "Clip" on?  Do you just push on?

Ridiculously easy! Its just two magnets that pull apart and then put either side of the pipe amd they connect themselfs together and stay on. It couldnt be more simple and i am pretty useless usually with things like this!Oh but i found the instructions as to where to put it not so helpful but i have a plumber friend who said put it going from the main water pipe going out from the boiler! Seems to have made a difference to our water but i do feel we need two one for upstairs and one for downstairs!

Snake Oil? The price suggests a bit of psychological marketing. At seven pounds, and a wonderful promise, they’re probably flying off the shelves. If they actually worked well, they could charge ten times the price. Most buyers will think it’s worth a punt, seven quid won’t break the bank and you’ll always have a useful magnet about the place, to pick dropped pins off the carpet or stick your kids artwork to the fridge door. They should offer it in combination with the Ladybird Book of Magnetism, impress the kids with tricks on rainy days.

can thjis item be put on a plastic pipe .

Yes it can be used on plastic pipes as well as copper as the item itself is magnetic and the two halves hold together around any pipe and create a magnetic field inside the pipe that the water then passes through as it travells up the pipe. This magnetic field has an effect on the water and it really does help reduce limescale. I bought several after trying one as I was a bit unsure if this would work but it really does help to reduce the limescale, not completly but enough to notice the difference and how many time we need to descale the kettle etc

.. Hi all - if your using these units in say a 3 bedroom house , where would you attach the magnet to and is it enough to circle the whole house ?

Hi ash, 
         Best place to locate the magnets is as near as you can to the mains water inlet probs found under your kitchen sink. You can buy more and dot  them around i quess if need. Just a pointer if you descal your kettle and then attatch the magnets and see if you think you need more
