Solidifies foundation
Prior to purchasing this book, I followed a video lesson from a different instructor. I kind of knew how most letters are pronounced in words, but not the names of the letters themselves (the last few pages tells you in this book!), and I didn't really get the soft sign and hard sign. I didn't have a solid grasp of the letters. This little book, though small and thin, helped me solidify my foundation, and I have a much better grasp of the alphabet now. The small volume is less daunting than big books and easy to pick up and practice. The best things are the exercises - I'd cover the pronunciation and try it myself first, then see if I got it right. The exercises also help build vocabulary! The humorous and clever presentation is great, making alphabets not so dry to learn!Do get the free audio file - it corrected a few letters I didn't get right, like ы, and the names of the letters. After this book, I had also purchased the cursive handwriting book from the same author - gotta be able to write! That one has even more exercises and vocab, also in a small volume easy to pick up any time you have a few minutes. I recommend both.

It works!
I read this book ONCE just lastnight and 1. I actually understand the letters/sounds now. 2. I remembered most of it from just the one reading. I was surprised at how easy this book made it and I'm excited that I actually retained the information finally. This is exactly what I needed to get my Russian study going. I tried and failed before largely because of the lack of understanding the alphabet, and any study guide I used did not introduce the letters in a way that was well understood or well received. After just one reading of this book I can actually figure out the pronunciation of random Russian words that just yesterday looked completely alien. Now the task of learning Russian seems actually do-able! I feel good about it now instead of lost and discouraged!I highly recommend this book!

Great little book.
Clear and concise presentation of important information that has cleared up a lot of questions for me. Teaching yourself a new language can be very frustrating, This little book provides a ton of unique and clear information that has been missing from everything else I have seen so far. Highly recommended.

Nice little book focusing on the alphabet. :)
Overall, a very nice but very short overview of the Russian/Cyrillic Alphabet. At 44 pages, it essentially devotes a page per letter plus a few pages for context and tables.I really like the drawings and short write-ups that provide a visual and story to better cement the letters and their sounds in one’s head.An mp3 download and PDF images are also available. For extra practice, I also recommend the book “Russian Script Hacking.”

EASY TO LEARN
Did not expect this book to be so easy to learn Russian letters and make it quirky and fun. 100 percent recommend. I took Russian years ago and it was a good way to be reminded how to say the words.Starts with the letters and introducing how to say them, then you can test yourself with procuring the words and it provides the answer below 100 percent recommend. Wish there were books more books here

Excellent Resource/ Quick Learning
This was just what I needed! Whatever courses you take in Russian, you may find yourself needing to understand the alphabet first. This had me recognizing the unique letters of Russian in no time. I have the Kindle format and enjoyed being able to download it instantly. The illustrations were most helpful for locking the alphabet in my memory.

Very helpful in learning to sound out words.
This book is helpful for the beginner. I find myself trying to remember the pictures that go with the letters. "Oh yes, ladder = L sound ". Someplace I saw it described as a children's' book. How many kids are trying to learn this alphabet? It's very useful for adults. I wish it was online so that I could hear the pronunciations for the example words for each letter. I am also doing Duolingo which doesn't teach the alphabet.
