Amazing Totally Unique Taste of Sunshine From The Heart of The Med
First discovered this delicious drink on Malta in the early/mid-1990's. It was created on the island in the early 1950's as an alternative to the 'colas' on offer. Essentially its a lightly carbonated bitter-sweet orange drink with herbs, and WOW does it work! Its impossible to describe as it really tastes like nothing else on the planet. It must be said that like all drinks/food I guess, but particularly so for 'Kinnie' it's at its absolute finest when consumed outdoors in the warm sunshine with some ice and (personal preference here; yes or no?) a slice of orange. Do not pass ultimate judgement until you have savoured it in this 'turbo-charged' way!! Total absolute refreshment. However, I hasten to add that even in winter in the UK its still rather special and most enjoyable indeed; just 'crank-up' the heating, sit back, close your eyes and imagine the deep blue and turquoise waters of the Med! Have not tried it as a 'mixer' yet so perhaps even more joys to come? We have found the 'Original' preferable to the 'Diet' version, we also prefer it to the more recently introduced 'Zest' although that's fine as an occasional alternative. Just our own personal tastes. All I would add is if trying it for the very first time without doubt definitely go for the 'Original'. By sheer coincidence I only e-mailed 'Simonds Farsons Cisk' the Maltese manufacturers a few weeks back enquiring about making it available in the UK? In a 'nutshell' they replied 'they were working on it'. Last week I received an e-mail from them to say it was now available in the UK via 'Amazon'. Eureka! Many, many thanks to both for making it possible. Cant wait for next summer; sat on the patio, barbecue heating-up and an ice cold 'Kinnie' to hand to refresh my taste buds like nothing else can. In the meantime I shall savour the odd one or two every now and again as a treat and flavour of whats to come. Just look at all those five star reviews on here; says it all! A quick addenda: If you like sauce on your chips a famous supermarket with orange bags has started selling the award winning 'Red Lion' tomato ketchup as well as a great brown sauce too. Its made in Gozo! Not the cheapest but real quality. Wonder if 'Amazon' will cotton on?

Wonderfully Unique Taste of Mediterranean Sunshine!
Totally unique lightly carbonated non-alcoholic orange and herb drink from Malta where its extremely popular and seen absolutely everywhere. Large bottles, small bottles, snazzy art 'Special Editions', evocative and stylish cans; its in every supermarket, bar (on-tap in some), cafe, hotel, corner shop, beach place, airport, you name it! Best consumed outdoors in the hot Mediterranean sun with a slice of fresh orange and some ice, tastes FAR better in such hot environs being unbelievably refreshing. Its still good-ish in dreary, wet and chilly UK, and that's just the summer months! Originally created as a more mature 'grown-up' cola alternative in the early 1950's, though I hasten to add absolutely nothing like the taste let alone 'fizzyness' and sticky sweetness of cola. Along with many other reviewers on here who either first tasted it on hols (like ourselves) or expat Maltese now living in UK whom already knew of this fabulous drink. 'Original' version is best. 'Diet' and 'Zest' versions also available in more recent times, the latter aimed more at youngsters. Ever so slight 'Marmite' effect i.e., 'like or don't like' but not I hasten to add as extreme. We've offered it to family and friends, most importantly where possible on hot sunny outdoor days and found that there is about circa. 10%-ish say 'it's okay, quite nice' whilst the rest go 'wow! where do you get this from?' (Apparently it makes a reasonable 'different' mixer too). The only drink we have found that is ever so slightly similar, but not carbonated of course, is (the alcoholic) 'Pimms' but it has only the very, very, slightest hint. All we can add is we've been drinking it in Malta for the past 20+ years and now at home and it's still as good as ever! Just look at the megga reviews/5-stars, they say it all. Big thanks to Amazon for finally making this taste of the Mediterranean available in the UK.

The best soft drink of all
I came across Kinnie the first time I visited Malta. We were welcomed at the hotel with free glasses of it, but nobody told us what it was. Once I found out I soon realised it was sold and drunk everywhere in Malta and Gozo and I followed the lead of the locals. It is hard to describe it other than repeat what the maunufacturers say - it is a bitter-sweet soft drink made with oranges and herbs and it's fizzy. Maybe it's an acquired taste but I love it and once away from Malta was unable to obtain it in the UK. Now we can get it here and I have it on standing order with Amazon. It is great value for money, it tastes far better than the usual fizzy drinks we know here (including well-known international ones in specially-shaped bottles!)and it's not made from chemicals. You only have to taste the first mouthful to believe you're back in Malta, even when you're here in the cold and the rain. Try it - you'll love it! It deserves to be wider known and appreciated and now that Amazon supply it there is no obstacle to everyone buying it.

Unique flavour - love it loads!
We visited Malta in September 2012. We drunk Kinnie all the time, and became quite addicted to it in a nice way. It has a unique flavour and is a pleasant change from other soft drinks. We now have Kinnie Original delivered and we love it. Thank you Amazon! This is an update 29 Aug 2018: Kinnie is not available. It could be because they have changed it to the Zest version, which does not contain any sugar. We prefer the original, with sugar. Our last order via Amazon was 10 April 2018. We used to have 24 bottles delivered every 2 months. Now nothing. Amazon say that they do not know when it will be available and will keep our order details. I am losing hope that it will ever be available again. The No Sugar watchdogs have taken over the World. Sadly. We miss the Kinnie we used to have. Further update 12 September 2018: Kinnie IS available again! Another seller has been found, via amazon. Back to normal! No discount, but hey, who cares?!

A taste of my childhood
Kinnie is, as someone else mentioned, a bit of a Marmite drink, not that it tastes the slightest bit like the delicious black stuff (I love Marmite too). When I got my recent delivery from amazon.co.uk I took a bottle to work and asked my staff to try it, none of them liked it but an English customer who was in absolutely loved it. That's a common enough scenario, my cousin who is 100% Maltese hates the taste, but most of my family love it. Admittedly it is a touch strange as it's a mixture of citrus fruits and herbs etc, but the blend is subtle enough to be tasty without being overpowering. Being half Maltese I'd spent some childhood holiday time in Malta, which is where I got my first taste of Kinnie. As time passed I always remembered the taste and whenever any family went over I'd badger them to bring me back a bottle or two - some did, but the disappointment when they didn't was immense. Whenever I'm in Malta I drink nothing but Kinnie - no booze, no tea or coffee... just Kinnie. In 2010 I rode my motorbike over to Malta from England and made sure I left enough room in my luggage on the return trip to bring back three 2 litre bottles. Those three bottles were carted through 12 different countries unopened (a huge effort of will was required here) and lasted me for about four months once I arrived home. Since then I've been meaning to get down to London and collect some more from the Maltese Cultural Movement, but time has been short. Now I can have it delivered by Amazon and I'm like a kid with a new toy - Thanks :-)

Addicted!
I became "addicted" for want of a better word to this amazingly wondrous drink many moons ago when visiting friends in Malta. Of course over there you used to find it in glass bottles which only makes the taste even more scrumptious. We used to fetch as much back as possible in our luggage until the ban on liquids came in and although it now only applies to hand luggage, still you can't realistically get that much in your case as you'd like. So when I saw AMAZON.CO.UK were selling it here in the UK....Well lets just say I was one happy bunny! We have it at all our parties either as a soft drink for the kids or those that are driving but best of all as a mixer with the likes Jack Daniels....It goes down a treat! And of course when our friends and now family come to visit us from Malta we have our own home from home to share with them!

Like Marmite.โฆ you will either love it or hate it.
I tried this drink while I was on holiday in Malta for the first time (been another 5 times since) with a group. I really enjoyed it, other members of my group had mixed reactions, some loved it and some hated it. Orangey, good chilled too.

Delicious flavour drink
I love the flavour of Kinnie, which I tried first in the country it was made and find it delicious and with a nice fizz to it. Just would prefer tin not plastic bottle containers.
