Is this pen metal or plastic?

THe end is metal but the pen is lightweight and plastic, not what i was expecting.

Does this pen work with the long types of ink cartridge or just normal ones?

Yes, I bought 'Parker S0881440 Quink Fountain Pen Refills, Long Cartridges - Pack of 15, Washable Black Ink' and they work great.

Is the stainless steel pen all stainless steel including the barrel

The pen is stainless steel except for the mechanism holding the nib. Though the part into which you insert the cartridge is metal, the thread on the inside of the long handle is plastic. However, the likelihood of this breaking (as has happened to me with regular plastic Packer pens) is negligible because it is encased in the stainless steel which reinforces it. Still maybe don't over tighten.

Is the fine nib or medium nib more suitable for school when writing big essays?
