Find peace
So many people are so stressed these days. This book unlocks the way to calm and peace. I have given quite a few of these as gifts. It is always received with excitement and gratitude. It’s an old book with very important information for us today.

So Inspiring!
Everything Matthew Henry has ever written is filled with cross references and an abundance of compassion for the plight of man. Just finished this and am preparing to reread. I usually read 5 pages at a time because it is dense and I want it to last. If you enjoy good writing and are on the hunt for truth - this is it!

Serious Reading
The book is a true blessing, one that will take some time do to the fact it was written so long ago. Easy to follow though. I am reading it as part of my daily Bible study. I can tell already I will be re-reading the book as a study guide and for spiritual guidance in the future.

The Quest for Meekness and Quietness of Spirit
This book was recommended by Nancy Leigh DeMoss and I give it 5 stars. Though it was written some 500 years ago, the truths of which Matthew Henry writes are timeless. Meekness is essentially a true view of one's self, expressing itself in attitude and conduct with respect to others. Matthew Henry, in his book The Quest for Meekness and Quietness of Spirit says, "Meekness is a gracious, easiness of spirit. It accommodates the soul to every occurrence and so makes a man easy to himself and to all about him." I recently experienced a perfidy by a daughter whom I love and trusted...in seeking to find that which God was trying to teach me, I wanted to read Matthew Henry's treatise on The Quest for Meekness and Quietness of Spirit. In reading this, I have experienced God's peace and through reading and digesting Henry's work, I believe I have found God's will for my experiencing so painful and personal a betrayal.

A great help.
This book has been immensely helpful in my personal struggle with my angry nature. It is repetitive, as some have noted. I have not found it to be more repetitive than my temper, and so I have found the continual reading of the same points to be very useful, because the stamping out of my quick temper has been very difficult. It is a book to sip on and dwell on, not to gulp down in one sit. Dont pass this old treasure by.

The Quest for Meekness and Quietness of Spirit:
What a great find. Some find the language of 315 years ago a little stilted or the approach slightly redundant. However, with just a bit of patience and a slower reading pace, this little gem provides a wealth of insights and thoughtful gems. I'm using it as the primary background book for a Bible class I'm teaching. Each week I conclude the class by reading aloud several little snippets from the book, much to the delight of the 50 or so in attendance.
