Description
- A set of stained sections through the stems of plants in a slide box.
- Stems connect the roots of plants to their leaves and flowers and through a system of tubes take water and food into the plant.
- Some of the tubes carry water and minerals and other food and water. Some carry material in one direction only and others in both directions
- These slides have been stained to show these different tubes in different colours.
- An ideal introduction to the structure of plant stems. Very different plants are used.
A set of stem sections stained to show the xylem and phloem of plant stems. The slides are of cross sections cut through each stem and stained. The material is from pine, corn, helianthus, buttercup, limewood and cotton. These have been selected because of the variations in structure that they show.
