firstly i do not write reveiws One person claimed it had taken them a whole day to figure it out! this person clearly needs to see there health care provider!! it takes less than 3min to assemble,and thats with a 2 min tea break! it IS SILENT.the motor makes the smallest of hums but a large feather dropping will drown that out Somebody else said the skimmer made a loud sucking noise,that must have been their partner drinking their tea cos this thing makes zero noise i have my water high to just 1 inch under the waterfalls this does stop all splash noise (which i want)this still give good water movement and thousands of tiny air bubbles So to recap,easy to install,silent,its well made,not pricey. stop reading go buy it

Great filter, last a part from my last filter so got this. There's plenty of space for filters and media to add your own, pumps well and the flow adjustment works well too, can get it down to a trickle and all the way up to a proper aeration waterfall. Not had any leaks, gets a bit noisy but a clean sorts it out, like a little reminder it needs doing. Fish are happy and clean.

Arrived quickly, much quicker than I expected (fantastic), packed well. Looks and feels quite well made, much lighter than I expected, though there are a few sharp edges with excess plastic, though this is very easily trimmed with a sharp Stanley Knife. Just be aware as this hooks over the back of the tank, you need clearance for it to fit comfortably, 235mm x 60mm at least, so that it doesn't catch the top/lid on the fish tank. Very simple and easy/quick to set up and clean etc, the only thing I will have to look into is getting replacement filters, as I haven't come across any ready made ones. Love the double water fall effect and a lot quieter than I expected, certainly quieter than my previous internal filter and also nice that it's out of sight and leaves more space inside the tank. I have 64 litre tank, so this filter is almost double the size of what I need but for the price, you can't go wrong and also it works very well and it's only set at it's lowest setting to.

Amazing filter!! I was nervous to buy since everyone claimed it to be loud but that is definitely not the case for me. There is noise from the water entering the tank which is similar to a waterfall sound, but its not at all loud. The filter was loud at first because it took a while for itself to settle and I guess 'prime ' itself and so there was more of a humming and crackling sound, but that went away in less than a week and now the only sounds are those of the water coming out. The tank with this filter is in my room and I have no issues sleeping and I'm a light sleeper. The filter creates great surface agitation , and I recommend playing around with the valve to increase and decrease water flow and see which fits your tank best. I absolute adore the skimmer! No more bubbles or micro films on the surface of the water, my tank looks exceptionally clean. I also really like that there is space in the filter to add biological media like the ceramic rings etc. Overall I'm super happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend this product to others.

This being my first HOB filter I thought it looked good. Unfortunately the flow spills out before going through the filter medium, so I reduced to a trickle, hardly worth it though as the flow was what I wanted. It started rattling yesterday so I removed and cleaned the impeller, not to disturb the filter medium. Once cleaned I returned it to its position, only to discover the impeller was not rotating. I gave it a spin and it started. it worked for an hour then stopped again. I cant chance my expensive fish so returned and bought an alternative. Cheap, but not reliable.

The filter works however it's flow is not consistent. I've tried to assemble it multiple times by following the user manual however it's still not great. Size is as described. It would be better if it came with sponge around intake so it would be safe for shrimp breeding

Noise? YES. Loud? NO! Well HOB filter are known for not being silent and I was not expecting anything better but... I can hear it. Cover rattles a bit, pump buzzes but all is still quieter than Hidom 4.0W air pump on max settings. Still - not recommended for bedrooms. But all works well in living room, where during the day all noise gets lost in the traffic. HOWEVER It is a great piece of aquatic equipment!! Easy to install. Easy to maintain. Gets out of the way. Does not obstruct the view. And the flow!! I have internal filter which I moved now to other tank. I cleaned it twice in last 6 months. It is too much mess to take it out, apart, clean, put it together and install back in the tank. HOB is way better. Got it for few weeks and I clean it every week. One sponge at the time, so each sponge gets cleaned once every two weeks. It is 20 seconds job. Great!! Flow is great. Nicely moves water in my 65l tank. I keep on max flow rate and tune it down for feeding. Not because flow is too grate but because surface skimmer sucks food before fish got it :)

Very good design and not noisy at all. Very good customer service as well :) worth to buy
