Don't do what I did
This is a good generator at a decent price point. It offers 3500W max, remote start and dual fuel... all for under $1000. It arrived quickly and performed as advertised. After a 30 minute break-in run and associated oil change, I ran it for brief periods to check that it would serve our needs with our travel trailer and it worked well. I drained the fuel, disconnected the battery, and put it away for the winter. We didn't use it during the camping season, but I needed it for an event in October, so I took it out of storage, refueled and reconnected the battery, and it started up, no problem. Then I did something stupid...UPDATE: I bought another of these generators and found that the manufacturer had redesigned the wiring harness for the battery making it impossible to connect the harness incorrectly, thus preventing my stupid mistake, which I will now - for posterity’s sake - describe:I disconnected the battery and then reconnected it a couple of days later when I needed to use it. Somehow, in an obviously delirious state, I connected the battery to the wrong connector (still not sure how I did that, but I am getting older) and it fried the circuit board electronics. I didn't realize it at first, and the generator wouldn't start. Then I saw the telltale white acrid smoke and I knew something was wrong. At first I blamed the machine, but once I discovered my error, I reconnected it properly and the generator started promptly. The electrical output tested properly and everything seemed to be functioning to spec except that the digital readout was no longer working.I'm not sure that I will continue to use this generator; I'm not sure how critical the digital readout is for overall safety and governance. However, I would buy again. But this time I will mark the two proper connectors so I don't do another bonehead mistake.

Excellent product and exceptional technical service
I recently purchased the Genmax GM3500iAED generator, however when I received it, the electronic start was not functionable. It started ok via the manual "pull" start and the generator functioned very well. Probably this problem was caused in the shipping and handling to me.I immediately called the manufacturer's Technical Support line and they immediately attended to the problem. They contacted the manufacturer and the manufacturer immediately approved a replacement generator. As I was leaving shortly for a trip to Alaska and a functional generator was urgently required by me in remote areas and as Amazon would not ship the replacement unit to an address in Alaska, the manufacturer very graciously allowed me to keep the generator I received to use on my trip (as the manual start was functional) and they graciously offered me a full credit to my credit card for the cost of the generator (so that I could purchase another generator at a later date if desired). The manufacturer and their techical support company, Tomahawk, in San Diego, never hesitated to try to solve my problem and were very forthcoming in allowing me to keep the generator (with the no electronic starting capability, but manual starting functional) at no cost to me and providing me full credit for the cost of it. This was greatly appreciated and again I hereby thank them for their prompt response to my problem and their generousity in adequately solving my problem, given my urgent circumstance of requiring a generator in remote areas..As for the functionality and specifications of this generator, I can already tell, from my limited use of it, that the generator is a very good quality product. With the features it has, it appears that there is currently no equal to it on the market at that cost. I am an electrical engineer and before buying the generator, I did very extensive research for what we required in this type of generator and could find no other model that has all the features we required for use in polar regions. The physical size, which has capability of generating 3200 actual watts of power, the dual energy ability of gasoline and propane gas, the electric and remote starting features, coupled with the 145cc four cylinder engine specifications, makes this product a winner. The manufacturer and their techical support team's action in propmtly resolving my problem tends to suggest that they seriously want their customers to receive excellent technical support and for them to be satisfied with their product.I highly recommend this product and the company's technical support to anyone who requires a generator with these technical specifications. A good product and excellent technical service!

Problems from start and Support is terrible
Had problems from the start (gm9000iedc) got the unit in Oct 2024, wanted an 9000 watt inverter unit that support 240v and 50amp output. This appeared to fit the bill. After receiving unit did a no load test but noticed when set to 240v the display would constantly switch between 120v/240v called support multiple times eventually got thru. Tech indicated it probably was a bad display and would send a replacement that I could change out (take unit apart). In addition I needed to also have the unit be in floating neutral mode not bounded. He said he would send instruction. It took about 2 week to get new display. Figured I do the display change and the neutral change at same timeDisplay. Replaced display but same problem, voltage fluctuates between 120v/240v. Called support again, multiple times, leave VM, finally after days, got a call back. They’re answer. They were Not sure, I would need to take it to a repair facility to have them check it out. Closest one 40mins away, next closest an hour. In the meantime I did a test trying to charge a device via 50amp/240v outlet Would get error messages related to voltage drops. Again no help from tech supportRegarding the neutral. The instructions sent did my match the wiring of my unit. Called support again, now they say they don’t have instructions for my unit and I’ll have to pay for an electrician to perform or void my warranty. Really. So now I’m passed my return window or I’d just return it. But now looks like I’m out over $2K for this unit that doesn’t work correctly.Updated 1/15/24. The repair shop, who age max provided and 40min away, called and confirmed a problem exist and confirmed the voltage fluctuation in 240v mode. They indicated they’ve left GenMax multiple VM and hasn’t heard anything back as of this moment. With me the Director of CS (Oscar) has stopped replying to my inquiries.
