could you please tell me how the dimensions work?? Are the first two figures the base dimensions, and the last one the overall maximum height

Overall, if you fully extend the lamp to its maximum height, it is about 60cm. We have chosen to use the clamp instead of the base. So the last figure in the description is the fully extended height. The first two are the circumference of the base.

can i order a bulb at the same time

Hi, we recommend to go with E27 Golfball LED bulbs, like this one from our store: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00KW1MHWG

Should a hive E27 bulb work with this?

Not sure what “hive” means but there is plenty room inside the shade and standard screw fit e27 sold by Amazon in pairs works fine

Is this matte or shiny/gloss?

It is a matte finish. Very smooth and nicely finished.
