Fun for parties, social interaction
The nice thing about this game's theme is that people can kind intuitively grasp it. Island castaways are a "thing" going back quite a long time, so people can easily get into the headspace necessary for this game. The balance of this game is interesting. You need to gather resources to survive, but there are some fluctuations in the output of resources (wood and water in particular) that make some variance inevitable. If there is harmony among players then you can probably accomplish a lot with coordination and cooperation but (as the box suggests) it quickly takes a cutthroat turn when shortages crop up.And odds are they will. Some of the mechanics feel a little bit un-fun. Elimination feels a little cutthroat and people with guns in this game obviously have a huge advantage, but that's definitely by design. Just waving a gun around will... well, it'll get some stuff done. The caveat to this is that you won't really have a way to reliably win if you don't have cooperation from other people because you still need to gather that food and water and build that raft to win. So you CAN rule through terror, sort of, but ultimately everyone is very interdependent to win.You can expect alliances, betrayals, fun twists with this game. It's not hugely deep on mechanics, but the social aspect fills in the gap.I can't see myself marathoning this game or running it in a serious competitive way, but it's an easy-to-grasp, fun game that can fit a healthy number of players.

Fun Game
After you get the hang of it, this game ends up being pretty fun! It’s kind of a co op game you have to collect materials, but towards the end game. When resources become more scarce there is a cutthroat style gameplay that becomes required. We had a a lot of fun learning and playing together (maybe four games now), I would suggest to anyone looking for something a little different to try out. Also if you have a gun, you gain massive advantage so keep that in mind if you play! Great Game!
