Can this be cut n order to make 25mm wide ties without fraying or damage to the function of the tie. URGENTLY NEED ANSWER SINCE CANNOT FIND THIS SIZE

We have not tried cutting it to halve the width, however, it is very strong and I would imagine that it would not cause a problem. We have cut it in lengths and there has been no sign of fraying, even after the horrendous weather we have had. Hope this helps.

Could I use this to attach a bird box to a tree?

I very much doubt it! Not really intended for that. But this is very good stuff. Essentially for plant attachment to canes, trellis etc, I use it for tidying wires and cables, or garden canes, hanging garlands etc at Xmas and much more. It is reusable, just remove and store back on the reel or even add to another piece to lengthen it.

What's the best way to stop the tie sliding down the stake

The only way is to make sure it is not loose, but you have to check regularly, if the plant is doing a growth spurt, to make sure it isn’t too tight. If you use bamboo stakes, it won’t slip over the joints.

Are these ties suitable for extream windy conditions

We have used the velcro as ties on a trellis and archway for climbing roses. As the supports are round rather than square, the velcro was easier to use than nails and, painted over with the fence paint, you cannot see it. It certainly seems very stable and we do have strong winds, living in Scotland. Hope this helps.
