Disappointed
Looked to be an excellent product, but as it turns out looks can be deceiving. Firstly, while listed as being suitable for an adult rider with a head circumference of up to 58cm, this helmet is so shallow that it perches upon the head like a child's party hat despite fitting the stated circumference. Secondly it does not feel or appear to be all that protective, despite having clearly been certified as such. This is because it sits so high on the head that there is a clear two inches between the top of my ear and the helmet, while the 'brim' sits rather high on the forehead. And thirdly the arrangement of the chin strap and cradle is not at all to my liking. Unlike my old Bell helmet where the straps are threaded through the cradle at the back resulting in a really secure fit once the cradle and straps are adjusted, the SV888 does not boast the same. Instead straps and cradle are entirely separate from one another, with the result being a really curious overall fit beyond the whole child's party hat issue noted above. This of course could be purely a personal thing as every riders head is different, but it does have the effect of feeling somehow less secure. Unsurprisingly I have returned the helmet for a refund. Such shame for a helmet that had seemingly ticked a number of boxes (hi-vis, aero cover etc), and had also been well reviewed elsewhere.
