Although I do not know if they are guaranteed, I can say that since I purchased a couple of these at James Smith & Sons, New Oxford Street in London almost 10 years ago, I have purchased approximately 12 more to give away as gifts because it is an excellent umbrella. Not one has ever broken! Highly recommended.

When I receive it how can I open it，I shake it but nothing happen

This brolly opens by pressing a button with green arrows placed on the handle.

spring load button opens the umbrella, and if you press it a second time it closes
