Wattson 13A Fused RCD Spur Unit Plastic White 230V 30mA Trip Switch Protection 13 Amp (Latching/Passive)

This is an unbiased review. I did not get this free or at discount. I mention this for at least one reviewer believes this products reviews are fake. This is a great product, I had no problem replacing an existing fused spur with this, it fitted in the galvanised surface mount box with ease. This type of safety device is recommended for use with kitchen underfloor heating kits and for this reason I replaced my existing fused spur with this one. I selected this particular device because of the 3 push button switches which are very clear, colour coded, and easy to operate at near floor level under a kitchen worktop. The third button pops the fuse out and in doing so removes the supply which is indicated by a lamp. Someone suggested this is good to test the fuse with but personally I would use a hand held multimeter for this. This is a good feature as no tool (screwdriver) is required to replace any fuse that blows. Even an RCD will blow a fuse if overall circuit current is exceeded, the purpose of a RCD is to limit low currents passing through the operator in the event of a fault in the attached circuit. I'm pleased with this product, it does what it's designed for, and I'm very likely to buy more of this make in the future

Nice looking unit with easy terminals for wiring. Fuse ejection button is a really nice idea. Problem I faced was that the RCD in this unit did not trip locally. The test button resulted in tripping out the house RCD which defeated the purpose of installing a localised RCD spur in the garage. Regrettably returned.

It works excactly as you would expect , I used it as a safety device for a humidistat controlled bathroom fan and swapped the 13 amp fuse for a 3 amp fuse. It seems decent quality and was delivered well packaged within the expected delivery estimate.

I have not yet installed this so assume that electrically it is ok. However there are no instructions provided and some additional information would be useful, particularly on connecting the earth terminals. For example are these bridged internally and are the two securing screws also earthed or should separate provision be made? Furthermore the terminal identification and the engraved text is very difficult to read.

I'm using this in place of an ordinary switch. It's been working flawless and very easy to operate. Note that you'll need a medium depth box to fix it on

The product itself looks fine, but it won't fit a galvanised flush fitting socket box. The earth terminal prevents the fitting from entering the box due to the flanges where the fixing screws fit. Perhaps a surface mounting box would be ok, but I haven't tried that.

Useful to protect mains powered mirror unit installed in the bathroom, which needs to be on a rcd protected circuit according to the wiring regs. Works well.
