Heat'n Bond 102974 Medium Weight Iron-On Fusible Interfacing

This is a product that was not around when our ancestors made quilts. It gives a different "look" when you use it to applique. It enables you to have severe angles that would be difficult with traditional quilting. I use this product for fuseable appliques. It is ironed onto a backing fabric. It is then stitched onto the fabric. It has to be stitched for lasting results. There are many different brands of interfacing on the market. I have tried many of them. I always return to this brand. This is what I look for in fuseable interfacing: 1. Edges of fabric should not ravel after they are ironed to backing. 2. Should iron on smoothly. When you turn the fabric over and look at the right side you should find an absolutely smooth surface without wrinkes, lumps, bumps or bubbles. 3. The fabric that has been fused should not feel stiff. With that being said, the fabric should not feel limp. 4. You should not have to re-iron areas where the backing will not come off. The backing should be easily released. 6. The interfacing should stick to all areas of the fabric. The fabic should be completely covered with interfacing when released. The heavy weight Heat'n Bond does not meet my criteria as it is too stiff. Steam-a-Seam has the ability to release the fabric after it is ironed to the backing. I like that feature, but releasing seems to make the fabric fray. I don't really think that feature is perfected, and it is getting difficult to find. The fabric frays without being released also. I have had problems with bubbles when I use it. It does not seem to completely cover the fabric. I have had problems with pellon 808 fraying. Heat'n Bond is my go to product for fusing. I like it. Fuseable interfacing is a very personal choice. Quilters that use fuseables are very loyal to their brands as they like something that their favorite brand has to offer.

This was easy to use and worked well for the item I made. It adhered well and was just right in stiffness and weight. It looks like it is made to last.

I am not a sewer and I'm a novice craft person but I've been attempting to build giant bows for the holidays and stuff and some of the fabric that I ribbon that I've gotten rather is slightly flimsy so I had an idea that I would try to fuse this interlacing stuff on the back of it to give it a little of firmness it works really well I'm pleasantly surprised I used it on the back of some silk ribbon just so I can work with it so it's not so slippery and it still has the same shine . it still has the same look like it did at the start it's it just stands a little stiffer so the bows look a little nicer and they hold the shape that I mold them into a lot better but my opinion it's a great quality product but like I said I'm not really A sewer or much of a crafter so that's just my opinion price wise though this is a really good deal because I did price this stuff all over the internet

I liked how easy it is to work with. I'm not a trained or experienced seamstress but I was able to work with it without issues. The paper layers some off so you don't have a thick layer to work with. My neck and hem seemed much sturdier and neat after I used it and it uplifted the feel of the garment

This is lightweight in my opinion. Worked ok but not what I was expecting.

I'm using it as interfacing in making fabric masks. It's really not the best fabric for it, and I changed 2 different iron to make it work. I prefer cotton interfacing and this is all I could get for a long time. It is usable, but sometimes wrinkles, bubbles or shrink when trying to fuse and gets fuzzy sometimes also causing threads to mess and machines to go wrong. I make sure I did so many stitching so preferable my customers don't try to iron it later. Although, once ironed on and stitched properly, still holds, it needs to stand often washing.

Bought these to iron on to the inside of my t-shirts to try and avoid those pesky holes which come from nowhere. I have a white t-shirt which i was a bit nervous about attaching it to incase you could see it from the outside. You couldn't. its absolutely perfect and best of all no more pesky holes ;-)
