Set phasers to fun..!
I found this enlightening manual very helpful in practically instructing me how to replace the depleted dilithium crystals in a decommissioned old Starfleet shuttle I recently bought from a dodgy Ferengi called Quark for a few dozen bars of latium when I last visited the Beta quadrant during some well earned shore leave.Seriously though, this is a surprisingly comprehensive & informative Star Trek manual including detailed cutaways & key technical data for all 7 Enterprise starships from Captain Archers first iconic vessel, to Kirk & Picards archetypal later starships. Also included are chapters explaining the factual & fictional science behind phasers, transporters, warp drive, parallel universes & time travel & how they all critically featured & contributed to the different Star Trek series & films. Apparently, the manual is also a heavily edited version of various articles taken from the earlier Star Trek fact files magazine, which may not appeal to hardcore Trekkies for that specific reason. However, the basic info contained within this book still provides a relatively sufficient balance of technical & scientific information on all the original series & films Enterprise classes, hopefully appealing to the more casual Trekkie like myself, who should appreciate & enjoy this ‘enterprising’ manual as much as I know I did.

Really cool and vaguely silly.
Birthday present from my kids. It really brought back the old series as it features the original Matt Jeffries TV Enterprise in much more detail than "B**dy A, B,C or D" as Scotty famously said. The othe pang of nostalgia came from it being a Haynes manual and following that format- given how crap 70's and 80's cars were my Dad always had a Haynes manual for the sad rusty buckets he drove and seeing 'all models 2153 onward' gave me a real jolt of nostalgia for the days when you didn't need to be Trip, Scotty or Geordi LaForge to mend your car. There are a few bits of the book that have been amended by another 15 years of Star Tek happening since it was written but if you are a fan you'll enjoy this one. Also, if you leave it on your coffee table you get a fantastic double take every time!

Great for any collector or fan but nothing new!
This is a fantastic piece for the Star Trek collectors but it is indeed a close copy of the Fact Files so nothing new here, which is why I gave it 4 not 5 stars. However, one would have to have spend quite a large amount of money in collecting those folders to be able to have the information accessible and it will also hold value a lot better than the files for those that care. It would be nice to see the Haynes Manual style servicing tips and other expected features but that does not take away from the fact that this is a great book from the Star Trek universe full of other great info. While I would have liked to be able to build my own Enterprise, the lack of actual technical breakdown in this book and difficulty in sourcing parts has ground my project down to a halt. Still, at least I have some anti-matter for other household use now...

To boredly go...
Can you Spock the deliberate mistake in the title? Yeah you got it, this book isn't boring at all. I've been waiting to Chekov this book from my list. If you don't get this I'll have a few Bones to pick with you, If you make one Sulu purchase today then this should be it. 'But it didn't help me fix my star ship' you shout. Well I hear you, Uhuru loud and clear. Firstly, don't be a cheap ass and take it to a professional space dock where they can rotate your dilithium crystals correctly, if you're into DIY repairs on your star ship then I would Kirk that habit right now. In fact, Scott it before it's too late. Buy this thing.

bought as a Christmas present
This was bought as a Christmas present for a most unlikely "Trekkie"; it seems to be extremely suitable
