This is the book I have been looking for two decades!
I am a professor of museum studies at University of San Francisco who teaches nonprofit management seminars. This is the book I have been looking for two decades! It is clear, practical and breaks down complex information in a way that is relevant to the work all of us in the nonprofit sector do. Its language is friendly while it makes important suggestions for using financial data to inform mission-based choice. Highly recommended.

Must-have guide to the nonprofit world
Excellent, highly readable book all board members should have in their library. In fact, I bought several for the board members on the nonprofit I chair. Spells out our fiduciary responsibility clearly and leads those involved in nonprofits through specific transactions. Quite honestly, I think staff would benefit from this book as well.

It would be a great read for anyone who has no knowledge of finance ...
I'm taking over my church finances. I currently work in corporate finance, and I wanted to supplement my knowledge, as there are a few differences. I found the book a bit basic for someone with a base knowledge already, however it told me what I needed to know and compared profit/non profit well. It would be a great read for anyone who has no knowledge of finance at all.

Cuts through the fog of nonprofit financial statements
An easy read for conscientious board members. Will be a reference for years to come. Ittelson incorporates a down-to-earth style while demystifying financial reports for newcomer and veteran nonprofit leader alike. This book is the next logical step after piquing interest with the colorful A Picture Book of Nonprofit Financial Statements by the same author.

Interesting but a lot of information
This book was helpful to me as I am new to the nonprofit game. The only problem I had is there is a lot of information. I had a hard time figuring out what was the most important information.

Aimed at Non-profits in US
A useful guide, however primarily aimed at the US not for profit organisations. This could have been better explained in the description of book.Nonetheless there are some transferable nuggets of information within the book.
